Anyone use camera or similar belt case for R9?
« on: July 29, 2010, 07:37:00 PM »
I was curious if anyone had found a small case that was intended for camera or small device that worked well to hold an R9?  I was looking thru my drawer of old pouches and found a camera case that would be nice if it were a little thinner.  I had in mind something that you could pick up at Best Buy or the like, slide it on a belt and look like you are going to take a few photos or answer your "larger" iphone?
Just a thought, it may be a way to conceal in plain sight
Thanks for a great forum guys!

I thought about that also but never pursued it. The access to the gun is too slow due to zippers, velcro, magnets or snaps and because it's not designed for a pistol.
I had a fannypack that had a built in holster but it wasn't for me, hard to beat pocket carry for the pup.

I you want a pouch-type holster, may I recommend that you consider a Haugen Boxter:

http://www.haugenhandgunleather.com/search_results.asp?txtsearchParamTxt=Boxter&txtsearchParamCat=ALL&txtsearchParamType=ALL&iLevel=1&txtsearchParamMan=ALL&txtsearchParamVen=ALL&txtFromSearch=fromSearch&btnSearch.x=10&btnSearch.y=6

I have a spring clip Boxter for a Guardian .32 that I sometimes wear on "social" occasions as a backup for the R9 in my pocket. The Boxter looks like a case for a Palm Pilot or camera and completely shields the pistol from view.

Richard,
Very nice, I should have known if there was something made for that purpose you may have one. ;D But that is a little beyond what you can find at BestBuy. :o

I use these types of pouches especially this time of year when I wear shorts or pants that do not offer the pocket support needed to carry a pistol.
The MUFTI I use at night to clip to me gym shorts and it totes my 380 Seecamp.

Just like a great fitting pair of shoes, if they're that great, you better buy two pairs.
I know there will always be new designs for carrying your favorite pistol. I have the MUFTI pictured on the bottom left. I used it right out of the box, then no more Ron Graham, then the In Plain Sight (IPS) was introduced so I bought that.
The latest is the little black pouches that hold the pistol and my cell phone. I'm getting tons of usage from these.
No, I won't win a speed drawing contest with any of these, but these pouches allow me to carry when I may otherwise not have been able to.Sure, I could wear other clothes just to accommodate the pistol, but now I don't have to.

SCUBADDS, you could also look at the Safepacker. It is an option. I have one for my Kimber and I have used it many, many times.

Look here....http://store.thewilderness.com/product_info.php?products_id=18

I have never thought of asking if a tiny one could be made for the Rohrbaugh.
The pouches I have used are somewhat designed to carry a pistol. Pouches designed for cameras that I have tried do not allow good support and most times allow the pistol to flop around and become lost in the pouch.
Yeah you could glue or velcro a holster like an Uncle Mikes in the pouch provided there is room.
