You can do it, Steve.

Just upload the photo to your ISP, surround the new URL with "tags" and we will see it.

Remember that board members do not have access to your computer.  That is why the picture is moved to a common place, where you and we all have access.  That common ground is your personal web space on the ISP server.

When you are able to view the picture on your ISP, note that the URL is at the top of your browser.  Draw the mouse across that URL, thereby selecting it, and then choose Edit, Copy.

Occasionally, you do not have the opportunity to say Edit, Copy.  In that case, you may push the <Ctrl> key together with the C key.  That will accomplish the same result.

Then you can paste that URL directly into your post here on the forum.

Another point Steve -

If you have a pic link which would open a jscript window - no use copying the link cos it won't work in the ''img'' tags.  Generally a useable link should end with somepicture.jpg to work.

Another trick - and I'll explain in more depth if you are unfamiliar.  Take a screen grab of a pic displayed, and save it to your PC then - upload it to a hosting place.  Then use that URL for display here.

It can be frustrating!

Steve,

Your URL for badongo.com  did not have the tags set up correctly.  They were reversed.   Also, you had http twice.

Here is a picture I uploaded to badgo.com.  This is the URL at the top of my browser when viewing the picture.

http://www.badongo.com/pic.php?file=testing__2005-12-22_DCP_1054.JPG&s=

If the tags were added to this URL, the picture would show here.  I did not read enough to determine how to remove their advertising.

Steve,

The X placeholder means that the picture was not available on your server, as it was described here.

Perhaps you are pointing to the picture on your computer, instead of the server.

Using the post before this, which had the placeholder instead of the picture, I used the right mouse button to get the properties, then selected the URL which was in the properties, then did CNTL C to copy the URL, and then pasted it here.  It did not work when I used the IMG tags in this post.

Select means that you hold down the left mouse button and draw the pointer across the text to be selected.  The selected area will then be darker.

It is all a matter of opinion, but I recommend you use the facilities of your own ISP.  They should have a procedure worked out, and you can most likely avoid advertising.  In addition, the URL may be more common, and contain your userid.

You are paying for your personal storage space, and it can be a valuable asset.  You could even keep your personal financial data there as backup, after encrypting the data first, using perhaps PGP which is free.  PGP means Pretty Good Privacy.

Steve,

Please post pictures often.  It's fun to talk about the R9 and get to see things, too.

All of us are learning, and having a lot of pleasure doing it.
