In that case, my wish is for checkering rather than Tritium sights. I can learn to point shoot better but the grip tape I put on just doesn't look proper. I was going to send mine in to Bob Cogan for a little custom work but I think I'll wait to see what Rohrbaugh has up their sleeves first.

I wouldn't care to fire an R40 if it was on the same platform as the R9.  The 9mm version takes a firm grip to control - a .40 S&W would be more of a handful than I want to endure.  I have three .40 S&W pistols.  The full size H&K USP is quite controllable.  Ditto for my SIG P239.  But my old Star Firestar compact is a handful even though it is all steel and quite heavy.

My early serial number R9s is great just the way it came from Rohrbaugh.  Maybe I will pick up a Stealth- or a Robar-type R9 someday just because my R9s is beginning to show a little bit of holster wear after 6+ years of daily carry (and more than 3,000 rounds fired.)  The trigger sold me on R9, and it's still the best of any firearm I own.

Although its nice to wish I think the new model is already well in the works or already completed if it is to be out in a couple of months for SHOT 2012. :P

The countdown starts.

The show dates for 2012 SHOT are January 17-20 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center. ;D ;D

My guess is an external safety mechanism of some sort and perhaps a loaded chamber indicator....makes it compliant in more states?

I'm thinking grip screws that don't self remove.   ;)

Welcome to the forum Moonshine....I had a Kimber SOLO for a little while, the screws on it fell clear out...never had that happen on the R9, but have had them loosen.  Yankee sells some nice grip screws that helps bunches in that department.

There is a loaded chamber indicator on the pup; the extractor protrudes from the slide when the chamber is empty and goes flush when a round is loaded. It may not be as obvious as some other guns but it is there.

Yup, that's right Tracker...it's there...didn't think of it like that before but it is.  I still say an external safety mechanisim or white or night sights.

Have you seen the loaded chamber indicator on the SR9c? It sticks up so high on the slide that it almost interferes with the sight picture.

Yes, saw that...not a very good design.  Didn't like how the pistol felt in my hand either, a bit long (front to back) in the grip for me.
