Surface wear on G10 grips
« on: August 09, 2008, 10:23:00 AM »
I bought a suede Galco IWB holster for my R9 while I wait for my pocket holster to be made. It does a great job of hiding the gun on my thin frame but I've noticed the finish on the G10 grips is noticeably wearing. It's not the uniform black finish theh had when new, and has a whiteish grey look to the areas where it comes in contact with the holster. I never thought that suede would be so abrasive as to mess the finish of my grips!?!?? Is there anything I can do to restore the original finish? It's not a big deal since it is a carry gun but I've been looking for a set of CF grips (unsuccessfully) and considered a set of aluminum if they hold up better than the G10. Anyone else have these issues with the factory grips? Thanks for your time  Jeff

Jeff, the aluminum grips are nice, the OD would be my choice.  Tom

Thanks Tom,  which do you prefer the smooth or checkered finish?
