Title: 350 and counting
Post by: kinoz on September 25, 2009, 10:24:49 PM
Just thought I'd share my experience after 350 rounds:

American Eagle 115, 223 rounds
Gold Dot 115, 16 rounds
Silvertips 115, 42 rounds
Hornady Critical Defense, 49 rounds
Federal HST 124, 20 rounds

I've had one FTF, but that was me in a self-defense class shooting weak-handed.  I have not changed the spring as of yet.

I've carried Silvertips until this week.  With colder months setting in I have switched over to the Critical Defense cartridge (which my R9S seems to like the best anyway).

I absolutely love this pistol and how it performs flawlessly.  Once I added white-out to the front sight, my accuracy improved to the point where I no longer shake my head jealously at Karl Rohrbaugh's YouTube performance.

I'd rate it a 10 except for the fact it's a 9!  :D

Thanks for the great summary; I have had the same experience with the Critical Defense and a noticeable improvement in accuracy against all other recommended ammo mfgs.

kinoz:

Thank you for the good report.

With all this praise for the Hornady Critical Defense round, I've got to give it a try -- just as soon as I can find some for sale around here. There's enough foreign "stuff" available, but premium 9mm Parabellum ammunition is still hard to find locally.
