First Shots Through the R9S
« on: May 16, 2010, 07:59:00 PM »
Shot about 75 rounds total yesterday. 85 degrees out. Had the pistol nicely lubed and greased.

WWB value pack and Speer GD 115gr (20 rounds) shoots/feeds flawless. I think I'll stick to these two because it works.

Also very accurate!

It was good because my little Taurus 22 auto failed to fire (trigger problem) and my brand new Browning A-Bolt .223 stuck a fired cartridge in the chamber and could not get the bolt out. Tried pounding it out using a cleaning rod. No go. Finally used a screwdriver to pry the bolt open. Found out the combination of the cheap steel ammo and a dirty chamber (very dirty) was the cause.

But, the R9 really shined - also bit my hand, what a snappy pistol.

Gave it a nice bath afterwards too and put it in my IWB holester. This IS my new carry rig.

I only use WWB and 115 GD, never had a glitch! ;)
Good choice to stick with it IMO

Definitely use what works best in your R9.  Makes the best sense in the world.

As soon as I find something my pup doesn't like, I won't use it again. ;D

I'm amazed at the diminutive size of this R9. Sizing it up against my compact .22 auto (that doesn't work - Won't buy a Taurus again) - It dwarfs the R9!

I was wanting one of these. (Taurus compact .22 auto).  Thanks for the headsup.  In fact, just looked at one at the gun shop last week.  Glad I decided to wait.

I bought the Beretta .22 Bobcat and like it a lot. My gunsmith polished the feed ramp and it is flawless.

Now that's an idea.  Would it perform without the polishing?  Just curious.

I don't know because I had it done as a preventive measure. The little gun is of excellent quality and I like the tip-up barrel which means you don't have to rack the slide to chamber a round.

The reason I asked is, my gun dealer has stopped doing gun smith work.  I like the tip up barrel, too.  Do you have the stainless or blue?

I have the blue but if you can find a stainless that is the way to go.

I have found a stainless, so we'll see!  Just found it on line.  Called and they are closed.
