I was just in one of my favorite gun stores, and they had a Rohrbaugh "Custom". To me, it looked just like my R9s except for the grips. I looked on the Rohrbaugh factory web-site but didn't see anything about it. It was priced at $1,699. Does anyone know about the "Custom"?

I just found this, FWIW.

"The NEW Custom style R9 is finished with a Black Nitride™ that will increase wear-resistance, fatigue strength, corrosion resistance, lubricity and cosmetic appeal. Our custom model comes in all black or an Olive Green slide with black components."

In the Presidents letter - second paragraph. It was introduced at the same time as the Tribute edition.
Hope this helps,

Thank you gentlemen.
I think the grips were VZ checkered G10. I went with the black carbon fiber VZs on mine. The checkered ones are more grippy for sure, just like it says on their website.
I wonder if anyone has had any success in making the carbon fiber ones grip better. They are really really gorgeous and I would hate to mess them up.

Griff:
One of the senior members of the Forum has commented favorably on the use of 3M grip tape precisely cut and affixed to the front and backstrap areas of the R9 for increasing tactile controllability. By way of example:
