What happens when a Rohrbaugh gets too hot?

We know Rohrbaughs are designed to work flawlessly when fired from room temp, and we are cautioned not fire it in rapid succession so that it gets too hot.

What happens if it gets too hot?

Mine has had the hammer slip off the sear trigger bar early in the trigger pull, with the hammer retracting to the at-rest position as the trigger goes fully depressed.  Only occasionally, and only after a couple magazines have fired with no malfunctions.  Releasing the trigger will put things back to normal, and a second shot is usually successful.  There have been a few times it has failed twice in a row.  When at the range, I practice with multiple guns, so the Rohrbaugh has time to rest between firing a mag or two at a time.

I haven't heard of this happening with anybody else. 

What do the eggspurts say?

Is this an overtemp issue, or is my R9 in need of a visit by somebody smarter than I?

I have fired both of mine as rapidly as I could, five rounds at a time, two magazine, then reload and fire again.  I’ve never had an issue with overheating.  I’ve done this with 150 rounds straight.  I’m curious to see what others say, but I’ve not had any issues.

Sounds like you need a new trigger bar. This happened to one of my R9s.

I can only get through two magazines reliably under rapid fire without running into extraction problems. If I give it about 15 seconds before the third magazine, I'm good to go.

Yes.  This was Maria's first question.

I removed the grip panel to watch the action and see what was happening.  No lateral movement- The hook on the sear bar just pops off the hammer prematurely.

Are they the factory grips or aftermarket?

I would still start with replacing the trigger bar. Try it, it's not exspensive. Of is starting to happen now, it could get worse!
