Rohrbaugh collectable?  Sort of?
« on: August 05, 2010, 10:10:14 PM »
Check out this eBay auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290460831528&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

A Ron Graham elephant hide holster originally commissioned for our own Eric Rohrbaugh...  Unfortunately, its for a Glock 17!  ;)

I can vouch for the authenticity of this item -- it was made for, owned by, and used by Eric.

I was the first bidder, and will likely bid again.

Duane,
Very nice, I am a big fan of Graham holsters. You don't have to worry about me bidding my only Glock is a 19.  I hope you get it.

Don't worry about bidding against me -- I wouldn't have posted here if I was keeping it a secret.  ;)  If its meant to be, its meant to be.   ;D

Richard.  Didn't even know you had a Glock.  Excellent!

I don't, although I've been considering a Glock for a "truck gun."  However, at a recent range session "Herself" shot a G17 carried by one of her court officers and liked it. I'm going to get one for her.

Now that's a good idea.  Like those Glocks!

I have 25 to 30 thousand rounds through my G-19, (over 20+ years) never had an issue other than a couple of FTFs that were dud rounds and just wouldn't fire.
I did put a new Wolf barrel on a couple of years ago, good as new.

Richard!  That is pretty funny.   ;D

The good news is that I am about out of steam on the bidding.  Not that its not worth it -- I know that was pricey when new.  Its just that I don't have a lot of use for such a nice "bar-b-que" holster for my G17.  My 17 is an old Second Gen that is a great game gun.  I never cared for the finger grooves on the newer frames -- they don't fit my fingers.  I have a 19 for carry.

I hope you win the auction.  I know your affinity for Graham hoslters, and it will be the perfect excuse to buy a Glock 17!

I have a love/hate thing with Glock.

I love the simplicity and the fact that they just plain work.  Taking the Armorer's class last year really helped cement my appreciation of the platform.

I don't care for the looks.  I don't like the whole "perfection" attitude either.  Nor do I like that the Glock appears to be a cult favorite of gangsta rappers and such.  I don't really care for the grip angle, but I get used to it.

That being said -- I have three of them.  I have sold Glocks just to re-buy them again.  The darn things just work.

Someone I know said it well.  If I have to arm myself from my own safe, I will take a 1911.  If I have to arm myself from your safe -- I will take a Glock.  Good point.

Duane:

I have a young friend who is a physical therapist and who helped me regain the use of my right arm after I had torn up my rotator cuff a few years ago. I used some of the boring hours required by repetitive exercises on the weights and pulleys to discuss the wonders of the 1911 dsesign. As a result, he purchased one and declared it to be his dream gun.

I happened to run into him at one of the local shopping malls a few weeks ago and asked him how he and his 1911 were doing. He stammered a bit before saying, "I've had a Glock epiphany."

My response was, "Say it isn't so!"

And now my little wife . . . !   ::)

Perhaps old dogs can learn a new trick or two.   :-/
