Title: Our son is home at last!!
Post by: cargaritaville on August 16, 2017, 11:17:53 AM
Today our son, Airman Gian-Carlo Cianfarani, arrives home after 6 years in the USAF. In one month, he will be a civilian again.  2 years in Ramstein, Germany & a tour in Afghanistan, Qatar, & Kuwait are finally behind him. He is very fortunate & grateful to be in one piece & healthy. Life is Good.

That is something that you, your Wife, and your Son can be very proud of.

I wish him well in the transition back to Civilian life.

I bet you're glad he's home safely.  That 105mm round in his pic reminded me of this:

PLEASE  give him plenty of room. After a combat tour you are never the same.....never. To this day I can NOT be around crowds, i will NOT let a stranger walk behind me, 5-10 feet, and I do spend time alone with my thoughts. It has cost me every relationship I have been in but that is what was instilled in me.

He left a young man. Now he is different/better/more loyal person. Be proud Norm.

I am very proud of him. He fell in love with a beautiful & dear Peruvian girl he met. He was told that because she was not a US citizen, he was about to lose his top secret clearance. So, he married her & began the paperwork for her to become a US citizen. He lost his clearance, but gained a wonderful woman as his wife. He is out of the USAF in 3 days. He is on to a new chapter in his life. He is in one piece physically & emotionally. Kevin, thank you for your service. No matter what you endured, and I'm sure it was hell...you are still alive. Some not so lucky never came home. A lot of people would trade places with you if they could.

Tell him job well done.

I have a special level of respect for those that wear the silver wings and served in combat arms.

Surprised about the clearance issue, got a family member who married a non-us citizen a few years ago and he did not lose his clearance or have any issues.  He's an 0-3 that email ends with socom, but it should not matter.
