hey guys
i've been away from the forum for a while but a local offer of a R9s Stealth brought me back for your advice
its a Deer Park model with serial number R300x
its a user, meaning some silvering on the edges of the rigger guard, standard grips, no box or accessories, just the pistol with magazine
bore looks nice, trigger clean and smooth as expected
no idea of history or round count but i was told by the (trustworthy) shop owner that the fellow who sold it is a regular customer who has sold him a number of fine firearms over the year
think its worth picking up for around $800?
i don't need another, but what the heck...
thanks in advance
-
A shooter is worth $800 easy. If that is ASKING price offer $775. I always ask for a discount, usually works.
-
Sounds like a decent buy at that number.
-
thanks guys, i'll give it a try.
just for fun, any clue what the production year was?
i'll keep you posted...

Well there was 6000+ made so in the 3000 range that puts you in the middle.
-
Early 3000s were at Shot Show 2009.
-
i sure appreciate the depth of knowledge and desire to share. thnx guys!
-
Can't believe nobody asked where it is! Of course, if you decide to pass, I'm guessing someone here would call them and try for it. Sounds like a great score to me. 8)

still trying to make it happen, unfortunately they won't ship to another FFL holder
but to answer your question: a higher-end pawn shop in abilene texas
-
What on earth do you mean "they won't ship to another FFL holder" !? . . . . . THAT is common practice!
"Something's up" at THAT shop coyote! Perhaps you need to stand clear.
I'm selling two collectibles on Gunbroker. . . . . one at a time. Check it out and maybe forget about the other R9.

That smoke alarm in your butt should be going off about now! Look on G-broker and enter your zip code. You will get a list of all the FFL's by distance.
I have been on G-broker 15-17 years with over 300 sales. I have seen this type of thing 2-3 times in that time.

its ok, ok. i've fondled the R9s a couple times and its a peach. buddies have had a number of positive dealings with seller.
here's the story:
i'm a "winter texan" meaning i live down south 6-months a year
i saw the pistol in a local shop and wanted to buy it
i don't have a TX driver's license (preferring to keep my oregon license) but that should be ok because the ATF says its legal for someone like me to purchase*
so far so good...
the issue is the pawn shop's rule say "we can sell only to a Texas DL holder"
so i then asked if they'd ship to my FFL dealer back in oregon
nope, they never ship firearms, also a house rule
its a well respected shop (four locations) that just doesn't sell online and don't ship guns, ever
seeing that it can likely be picked up for under $750, i'm still working on possible options...

ATF statement:
Q: May a person who resides in one State and owns property in another State purchase a firearm in either State?
A:
If a person maintains a home in 2 States and resides in both States for certain periods of the year, he or she may, during the period of time the person actually resides in a particular State, purchase a firearm in that State. However, simply owning property in another State does not alone qualify the person to purchase a firearm in that State.

Actual rules compared to the rules an establishment sets up are two different things, and yes, you have to oblige them their rules. That’s business. Ok, we understand the issue now. Darn.......
Good Luck trying to work it out with them then.
-
If you don’t get it maybe a FTt in Houston I could hook you up

Wouldn't that make it a 'straw purchase'?

How would it be a straw purchase if tattoo sold him one of his own guns??
I don't think the offer was for tattoo to drive 400 miles, buy this particular gun, drive 400 miles back home, then sell it to the OP.
