Title: What the well dressed armed citizen is carrying
Post by: Fud on December 27, 2005, 05:33:12 AM
Got a SIG 239 SAS in .40S&W (7+1) with their special DAK double-action only trigger as a combination birthday / Christmas present ...

... It goes very well with my Rohrbaugh R9.

Those wood grips are just right.

Very, very nice.

I have a standard model Sig P239 (traditional double action) and really like it.  You should find yours to be ultra reliable and accurate.
Those wood grips look sharp.  I just may contact Sig about a set for my P239.   8)

Another way to dress a 239...mine in 9mm, factory nickel, and a set of factory grips that Houge added checkering to.

With some other little 9mm on top:

Hiding in plain sight?

I was giving SERIOUS consideration to getting the nickel model -- kept going back and forth.

I really like that SAS.  The trigger is much better than the regular DAK system, as it has been worked on by the custom shop.

I am not a big fan of nickel on my guns, but that pistol is very nice and could change my mind.

Thanks for sharing.

Steve,

I got my Goncalo Alves wood grips from Hogue for the P239.

I paid extra to have them made thin, and more extra to get premium selected wood.

If anybody needs detailed information, I can provide it.

I was lucky enough to be able to fondle a SIG SAS 239 yesterday and I can say that it felt superb.  I had a hard time not adding it to my collection but in the end I just couldn't justify it (now anyways 8)

I couldn't justify it either (already have a number of compact .40's) which is why I had to wait for my birthday/Christmas when I don't have to justify it because it's a 'gift'. :)

I just wanted to mention again the Hogue auction where they sell wood grips that are cosmetic seconds, just in case someone has not heard about the wonderful bargains available.

You have to look long and hard to find a blemish.

It's worth a trip to http://www.hogueauction.com/.

My latest purchase was Goncalo Alves Checkered for a stainless steel Kimber.

I bought this belt holster to carry my Kimber.  I already have a couple of 55BN holsters from Milt Sparks.  This 60TK rides quite high.  It's not for everybody, but it seems worth trying, especially since the belt slots are so close to the muzzle.  It looks like it might be a step closer toward easily hiding a 1911 pistol.

I'm hoping the shirt can be tucked in, and then wear a sweater or light jacket this winter for concealment.

As usual, Lightning Arms came through with prompt delivery, for only a small extra fee.

Did you look at the sig 229 SAS with 12 rounds?  I have thought of the 239 but it has only a 7 round clip.  Is there a big difference in size?

That SAS makes me drool.  :P I just wish it were available in 9mm. That with the R9 would be the perfect combo. 8)
