Title: Newest editions
Post by: Rocnerd on September 08, 2006, 10:31:58 PM
Well, I got a bug up my butt the other week or so and just had to have a .38 Super.  I don't know why, but I did.  So. . .
(http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a265/Rocnerd/guns/IMG_0763.jpg)

Then of course I saw the gun I have been lusting after but trying to avoid.  Well, had to add that one too.
(http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a265/Rocnerd/guns/IMG_0774.jpg)

And since I was taking some pictures I figured I would retake some of my wife's 239.

Roc - go stand in the corner - for blatently succumbing to buyer's excesses!! ;) ;D

Nice indeed - I have shot a 38 super and liked it a whole lot - resisted temptation tho purely because I had no loading gear for the cal.

I had a Para P12-45 and have handled an LDA - I think I could easily live with one!

I have considered 1911 pistols but do not know the ease of carrying.

Pictures show some esthetically great guns.

I would wager the guns shown here have more going for them
than just aesthetics; I have an original P-12 that is very
accurate and sweet to shoot. Someone told me that the LDAs
can be difficult to reassemble but don't know for sure.

The Ed Brown Cobra Carry is a beauty and right up there with
the "best of breed".

What Tracker said!

That Ed Brown Cobra Carry with the Spresser grips is a real beauty!

Here are two more examples of Spresser's work, these in Sambar Stag:

Charles Spresser and Spresser Knife Works make some beautiful knives and grips:

My LDA is no more difficult to reassemble than any short barreled 1911.  Love the Kobra Carry.

Just got my Springfield "TRP Pro" 45, after waiting 5 months, they said it can do 1 1/2 groups at 75 feet, this is why it won hands down of all tested for the "FBI" Swat Hostage team........I fired it today out bof the box and at 25 feet 3 head shots all touching, scared the hell out of me........will post pictures as soon as I can, Also added a set of Blue/Black custom carbon fiber grips.looks awesome....Gman

Reading the original post reminds me of how I ended up with my R9s, the new Sig X-5, Witness match 38 super, and Walther engraved PPK  - all on the same day!
No, I am not rich, just a stupid, immatue, gun-addict with a credit card.
Actually, I'm a mature gun-addict, I've got it as bad as you can get it.
Those are beautiful gun pics, I've been lusting for that Para LDA myself.    And that Colt is gorgeous.

That Cobra Carry with the Spressors - Wow!

Well, shortly after this latest debacle of an election, I decided that I was getting my evil black rifle before a new and even more ridiculous assault weapons ban was enacted.  Jumping the (dare I say it) gun (snicker) a bit perhaps, but it was a good excuse, if nothing else, to get one and if the ban does come back in one form or another than this was me planning ahead.  If it doesn't I just acquired this a little earlier than I normally would have.  So, I win all around.  Anyway, this is what I got.

Cool, Brenden.  Man those things are built solid as a tank.  Are those 50 round stick mags with your Uzi ?

If so, I have not seen any of those since the early 80's.

Hello All,

I would like to own an MP-5 but they are way to expensive.
I have fired the Uzi and the MAC 11-9.  I own the MAC 11-9.  At first they look a bit ugly but they grow on you real quick.
Mine eats almost anything and never jams.   It is fun, fun, fun.  Now if only I oculd afford an AK-47 and something belt fed.  Oh well, such is life.  I am content enough with my MAC.

Brenden - thanks for the info on the Uzi mags.
Now I see the the mag "stops" in two places, I should have seen that before.         Glad the mags  function well.

55 + rounds, that rocks!

It certainly is!  I don't want to stir up any M14 fans out there, but I've always preferred the 7.62x54 cartridge over the 7.62x51.

I am assuming Richard the 7.62x54R?  yes.  Certainly a good contender. ........ goes well thru this :) -

 (http://www.acbsystems.com/boards/thr/cb_gun2/m38_s.jpg)

Not forgetting tho as well - another round I have found very satisfactory, the 8x57 Mauser.  That does a grand job thru this ugly Turk/ATI combo!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BTW - I have assembled my pics in a new web site - which also has a few other items of interest and RKBA slant.  GOBANGO (http://www.gobango.net/).  Currently the dynamic menu runs fine in IE and Firefox but at present it seems not to function in latest Opera (9.10).  There are backup text links ''under'' the menu area tho if it fails to appear.
Chris,
As always great pics-and great guns!!!
I have a hard enough time stocking my supply of 9MM for my small collection..
I would have to add on a room just for ammo if I had all those different calibered guns!! ;)
Hey-That's not a bad idea!! ;D
Great site,I have it saved to faves already!! 8)
Chris:
Your collection never ceases to amaze me!  You even have a Mosin-Nagant!  Would that beautiful M-38 Carbine of yours have originated in Finland by any chance?
I must confess to having had a "brain-fade" in my previous post.  I meant to express my preference for the 7.62x63 mm (as used in the old M1 Garand rifle and otherwise known as the .30-06) over the 7.62.X51 mm NATO (as used in the M14 rifle).  I think the 7.62X54R is right up there with the 7.62X63 in terms of performance.  There must be a reason that those two cartridges are among the oldest still in use by various military units around the world.
(I also noted a grammatical error in my previous post, which the memory of my English teacher mother required me to correct.   ;) )
Title: Re: Newest editions
Post by: R9SCarry on January 19, 2007, 10:35:35 PM
Haha Richard yes - a Mosin - well two in fact as I have a real old 91/30 but the M38 is a lot more wieldy.  The 91/30 is so long you can touch the enemy just by stretching out an arm :D.
I do not know of it origins actually and have not researched - I had to buy tho as it was at a gunshow for a mere $59 - and is also (nicely) re-arsenalled.
Oh yes - the 30-06 - of course - many a hunter still uses that.  Interesting tho - and leaving aside minutiae of velocity figures - it is often reckoned that the same 150 grain bullet out of a 7.62x51 has a marginal edge ballistically.  I am not too bothered either way in truth and for sure - the M1 sure vindicated itself in WWII.
Reinz ..... I like it too - now.
The guy I bought this from had IIRC done the paint job and initially I was not so sure - thinking it might have been better in a more ''conventional'' cammo style - but it's ''grown'' on me.
It sure shoots like a dream too :)
