Free money
« on: February 26, 2017, 08:59:06 AM »
Anyone getting a tax check back? I am a disables Vet so my income is not taxable but I used to LOVE getting $2000-$3000 refunds in the mail. It was play money used to buy things you wouldn't think of buying any other time. Anyone getting firearms, gear, or reloading equipment?

I am a quarterly tax payer, so I never see a refund.  If I overpay in a year, they just apply the overage to my next quarterly payment.  It sure makes you think even more about what you are paying when you have to write the check!

Guess the old days of refunds are over? Used to love those.

No, it just depends how you pay your taxes.  Hourly employees who have money withheld by their employer will still get refunds if they overpay.  Those of us who are essentially self-employed pay every quarter and the excess just rolls over.  That being said, I try to not to have any excess!  I want to pay all the taxes I owe, but no more than I owe!

All my income, Military Disability, is tax deferred so I really wouldn't get a refund but I do miss the old days. Most of my assets are in gold or silver Eagles. They just sit in the safe deposit box.
