We've got a group of Cowboy Action enthusiasts here in East Tennessee, and I've been tempted to take up the hobby myself.
Have a ball! If the lady in your life also gets involved, you can double the fun -- not to mention the expense. Aside from the cost of the replica revolvers, lever guns, and Derringers, the cost of authentic wardrobes alone can drive a man to seek comfort from good whisky -- which is more expense. And if he really wants to do it right, he needs a good, blooded horse -- (Wait a minute ... I used to own horses ....)
Lord have mercy, this line of thought is threatening to get really expensive. I think I'll go clean my guns and watch an old John Wayne movie to cool down. ;)

Richard,Ha...it will be cheper than the car hobby I am obsessed with or the Swiss Automatics or .....
:-[
I bought a 100X hat ,the 2 Reeder Customs, double shotgun, concho belt, custom Lucchese boots, a .32 Hopkins and Allen vest pocket gun and a period U.S.Marshall badge .That is the first $5000.00.
Need a Yellow Boy carbine, spurs ,pants, gloves ,shirt ,bolo ,lawman coat, custom leather rig to complete the ensemble. There is another $1500.00+.
It is scary how fast this stuff adds up.
I`ll let you know how it goes.

In reading over my first list I note that I omitted the mandatory shotgun for "riding coach." (It surely is easy to make suggestions as to how another man can spend his money. :D)
Seriously, though, that's a great hobby you're taking up. I'm sure you're going to have a blast (pun intended) and hope you'll give us a report now and then.
