Does anyone know where to look this year for daily reports and photos from the show? Any forum members who are going?
Eric has promised me photos of the new offerings as soon as he returns from the show -- so stay tuned for those as well.
-
Would it be alright for people with inside information to release that information once the ShotShow begins.
I really need to know if I'm ordering another R9 and waiting for one of their other offerings.
-
I'm hoping we get the word right away.
Last year, Sig forum had pictures.
Here is another source: http://www.shotshowreports.com/

Bill:
You've resurrected a link to the prototype which caused me to place an order for one of the R9s back in 2002. (As a result, I own No. 132.) The photograph is also why I've been trying to get a pair of sterling silver grips for my "pup" ever since. (There's no chance whatsoever that the Brothers would sell the prototype's aluminum grips, which I understand are locked away in a safe somewhere in New York state. :'()

Thanks for the memories. :)
-
Thanks, Richard.
I would be thrilled to get a pair of the silver grips, if they become available from your sources.
Would you please keep me in mind?
That's a remarkable picture.
I will get abrasive tape that has a matching silver color. :)

I'm leaving for the SHOT show Friday evening, and will be sure to check out Rohrbaugh -- I can't imagine they'd still try and keep stuff underwraps once it's at the SHOT show.
-
He He He. ;D Just got off the phone with Eric. I have the whole SHOT show scoop -- including world exclusive photos. I am sworn to secrecy until the show opens at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 9.
This site will, guaranteed, have the first Rohrbaugh SHOT show report. Thanks to Eric and Karl for their support.
I will also have info on a VERY special R-9 to be auctioned off by the company. Can't say what -- but start saving your pennies if you want to own the most collectable R-9 to date. (That is so subjective -- maybe I am wrong -- but its way up there).
Just so we don't get curiosity piqued to an undue degree, I have to caution you all not to expect a revolutionary new product, but some very nice enhancements to the existing product and some intriguing new announcements.
-
Duane,
Looking forward to the photos here!! ;D
.380 "kit" ;) :D
The auction should be very helpful for those involved and a great idea..The info is also very anticipated..Thanks..
Anticipation.. ;D
Thanks again,
Brenden
Aglifter,
If you get a chance, please check out the SIG table, need to know more about the new domestic model 556!! ;)
Thanks
-
Duane - some early feedback will be great - I ''know'' some stuff too, well sorta ;) - but for sure, once the show is here then info can be released.
Last year it was covered quite well on shotshowtv - tho not sure of exact link I used. If I find it is running again will post link.
Wish I could go myself but just too darned far - plus end of March am off to Tulsa Gun Show - so, can't do everything!!
-
I will certainly check out the SIG exhibit -- I want to check out the 226, see if I want to get one...not that I could possibly use another pistol...
-
Hmmm....
This sounds rather interesting. Do you really think it will be a .380 conversion kit, or will be be smaller upgrades to the form/function of the R-9? This actually makes me nervous, because I have an order in for an R9s, and I'd be so jealous if they had an improved model coming out.

Does that mean we can expect you to post some official info (with photos) in about 25 hours?
I might take tomorrow morning off for this ;D
-
Yep. Well, I wouldn't call it official info... Accurate and complete I will accept. I wouldn't take off work though... ;)
-
In response to all the requests for more info, I have decided to post this (partially redacted) photo of one of the SHOT show offerings:

Oh.. I am soooo bad. :P
I have an appointment tomorrow morning, so the photos and info will go up (in a new thread) tomorrow before 9am.
-
Duane,
THAT is WORSE than a tease.. 8)
Thanks for the thought though!! ;D
I will have to wait till after work tomorrow to view whatever is posted!! :( ;) :o
Thanks for your time on this..
Brenden
-
Duane,
At some point it might be interesting for you to set up an online "chat" with the brothers and forum members.

Hmmm. Interesting idea, RTW.
Eric would definitely have to do the typing! ;D
-
That pic Duane - well hah - it is not a pic - it is a sorry attempt to promote member anxiety!! ;D
We await the later supply of ''real'' info soon!
BTW - I did some searching and - darned if I can find a web TV source this year - had one for 2005. Anyone with info to help on that please post a link.
-
Report posted in new thread in this forum.
-
Thank you ... now off to see what it says before heading out to work.
-
Hi Duane. I finally have something to contribute to your forum so I decided to sign up. To answer your original question, the best pics from the SHOT show can be found at Custom Glock Racing's website SHOT show page:
http://custom-glock.com/shot.html
Haven't seen anything terribly interesting there yet, but from the pictures it appears that there must be at least 310,473 different variations of the AR-15.
The only other site I am aware of that is covering the show is Gunblast (nothing posted for today yet):

P.S. I finally got to handle an R9S for the first time last weekend and was quite impressed.
-
Aaron - welcome :)
-
Aaron:
Welcome from me as well. Thanks for the links.
-
Aaron is a good guy and a friend -- thanks for joining. He is "one of us", although we need to convince him to buy an R-9!
I owe you a phone call too! :D
-
Aaron, Welcome to the forum. Dan

Thanks for the welcome everyone and thanks for the kind words Duane.
Brenden, if my wife found out I spent $4,000 on a pistol, I'd really find out how concealable it is. I would have to have it surgically removed!

Welcome to the forum, Aaron.

Thoughts from the SHOT show:
Les Baer are very nice to deal with, and seem like the best guys for overall experience on a custom 1911 -- also, the most willing to guarentee accuracy -- felt pretty good in my hands -- didn't fit quite as nice as a Kimber
Detonics (1911) are great guys, and they're guns feel WONDERFUL -- and they have a very nice mirror polish stainless -- not my thing, but I think that a really nice blued finish could be applied over it.
Wild West guns are decent guys, once you talk to them a bit in person -- they're really more custom gunsmiths than a manufacturing company -- I already have one of their triggers, and an over-sized loop on my Marlin -- I picked up an aluminum follower, and a beefed up ejector at the show - the ejector is about twice the size of Marlins, one piece, and of better metal.
Christensen arms are also great guys who build very nice guns.
Merkel double rifles feel like firewood -- I really think this has to be a custom made item -- some Limey gunsmith was complaining about Searcys, but every Limey gunsmith hates everything that isn't an English Double -- understandable, but not all of us want our guns to start at 25K.
Beretta builds BEAUTIFUL double rifles -- didn't even ask the price, didn't really need to, far beyond my means.
There is incredible wood available from Turkey, and the Marlin, if she does well in Africa, is getting a custom stock -- I'm going to try to get American Walnut, or maybe some type of African wood.
Dakota was impolite, at least to me -- didn't see why I was worth their time -- don't know why, since their bolt actions aren't that expensive, but I strongly suggest anyone deal w. Christensen instead -- it's also a considerably shorter wait for a Christensen gun.
Night Hawk and Yost-Bonitz are OK -- neither did much for me, nor did they seem really pleasant -- Les Baer focused more on how accurate/nice their guns were, as did Detonics -- Night Hawk was pushing how much money the shop could make out of them -- didn't like that attitude -- Wild West tries to push how much money a smith can make on installing their parts -- but it's really "Our parts are great, we only let the dealers make 10% on the cost of the part, but your customers will all want them installed, because they're so nice -- esp. the triggers, I'm really ecstatic about my trigger -- the loop is only needed because the bolt locks up tighter, and it has some more room in it -- good for my Russian Bear trip at a later date. The ejector and follower just seemed like decent ideas, and they don't cost much.
Yost Bonitz, in all honesty, I barely get to the counter, didn't really seem worth it.
Leica Ultravids are the finest optics I've ever seen.
Pentax has a new Lightsaver scope, made in the US, good optics, great warranty, and, relatively inexpensive.
Everyone else, assuming you're talking about a wholesale 500+ is close to the same -- the guys at a thousand are a little better, and Zeiss is a little better at ~1200, but Leica were the only guys with an impressive difference above everyone else, including Zeiss.
-
Brad - thx for all those comments .
Plain from that is how folks attitudes towards you (us, the potential customer) can turn us on or off!!
-
I don't know much about the others but Ted Yost and Lew Bonitz have always treated me well. They are responsive and reply to E-mails and phone calls. Most importantly, they do wonderful work.
-
I have several 1911's and had one full custom Hi Power built by Ted Yost. Waiting on another full custom 1911 which should be here soon.
Ted's work is second to none, and he is a real gentleman to work with. Very understanding and willing to put up with all of the inevitable changes along the way during a job.
Don Williams is another great smith to work with. Also excellent work.
The worst customer service that I have ever had was from Les Baer. Awful pistol and worse service.
-
All I had to go on was their attitude at the show -- Personally, I like the Detonics the best, and plan to go w. them -- None of the 1911 smiths I checked did a good bluing job -- in fairness, Detonics only does stainless -- even if you were willing to pay a premium for it, the examples weren't as good as my Dan wesson revolver, or as my father's Kimber.
