Pronounciation
« on: September 22, 2005, 10:20:38 PM »
I call it a "roar bow" (as the prow of a ship).  Am I correct?

HiCap,

It is "roar"and "baw", like a lion roars, and a sheep goes baw.

Hey Hicap,
Just wanted to welcome you aboard and to tell you that you have great tastes in firearms. I really hope you enjoy the forum and meet some really great people. Thanks for letting me try your R-9, the trigger pull is smooth as silk.

Michigunner, that is why my Roarbaw and I are simpatico; we are both sheep that roar.  Not a bad tag line for a Rohrbaugh ad.  Copywrite HiCap.

HiCap,

That was excellent.  From this day forward, that will be my pronunciation aid.

Who knows, someday we may see your fine idea in a gun magazine.

When you said 'simpatico', I had to look it up.  It kind of means: being on the same wave length.

I always have this task running:  http://www.m-w.com/
Please notice that it even pronounces the word for you.

That should have been easy, because I have had an amateur radio license for 51 years!

Great idea!

CaptBW,

That sounds like the latest version of the phonetic alphabet.

We also have a place in northern Michigan, north of Oscoda.

I think that the "Baw" in Roar-Baw just sounds that way because of Carl's Long Island accent. ;)
