Title: Grip extensions on magazine?
Post by: FireBreather01 on November 16, 2004, 02:13:29 AM
Has anyone tried to make or fit another grip extension to the R9 magazine? I don't have mine yet but as soon as I get it I will look at the magazine to see if one can be fitted to it. I know this may somewhat defeat the entire concept of 'small' but I am a tinkerer and wonder if this could work and I don't think a mag extension would bulk up the gun at all. Now don't flame me for not having an R9 yet - I'm just curious!!! (should be here soon)

As you follow up with this project you will find the Mag catch/release will pose a problem. But if you want to try, start with a base made for a Kahr, or a Colt Pocket Nine.

Thank for the 'heads-up'. I'll keep everyone informed as it takes shape.

Look under accessories.  There is the answer.  I had asked the same question.

If Rohrbaugh could/would come up with the extension
it would make a huge difference in gripability and
controllability--even for us with smaller hands

Thanks, Tom. I hope it is sooner rather than later. It is
remotely possible that a few of the failures could be
prevented with a better grip environment.

If someone who has one and wants to lend it to me I have someone who could probably make some extensions, but wants to see one. If you have one to lend let me know by PM
or E-mail.

It appears time flew too fast on this request..  I have not seen any of these on the market or on the company website..  I wonder if it's a dead issue..  I guess it might defeat the whole purpose of the R9 Pocket size..

aren't there any moderators on this site, like most others?

Maybe i should post some four letter cuss words to see if anyone is monitoring the posts.

DDGator (Duane) is the moderator (administrator) and has that power.  He's very busy, a lawyer, and writes for gun magazines.  Here's a recent thread on the Forum.

Those words are automatically taken care of with the censor software on the forum.  ;D

Actually, I am on the road right now.  I did get the tip off on the spammer and cancelled the account pretty quick--because of a tip off from a long time member.  I didn't have the ability to track down the couple of post and remove them.  But, you will see that the member is gone.

If you ever see spammers, drop me a note and let me know and they are dealt with expeditiously.

Thanks.

OK Guys hang on tight because here it comes.  This no grip extension thing has really pissed me off. On a  thought I decided to try as many as I could get my hands on.  bang second try. my wifes Kahr k9 pearce grip extension fits like a glove. Yes I said it. it fits perfect. I had to put a little extra bend on the rohrbaugh base tab, but it fits great.  I win, I am the man!!!!!  same grip extension is used on the K9/MK9/K40.  You are all welcome !!!  Oh yea, one small detail. I have not tried it in the gun yet.  I must have overlooked that point. I am figuring that the mag latch will require some tweeking of the base plate . but in a world of no mag extensions I am feeling positive...

I would say thank you but it appears you have already congratulated yourself.

I used the PM9/Colt Pocket Nine Pearce extensions and they worked fine.

I just did not rust a plastic extension with a heel mag catch.
