The computer rendering is what the final one should look like.
It should let me get my third finger fully on it.

Any thoughts would be great!!

I have large hands.  Less curve on the extension (like on version 1) would make it easier for me so the extension doesn't end up poking me in the third finger.
Also, any hope of a small palm swell on the grips you are developing?

thanks,
Marc

Thanks for the input Mark!
I think at this point I will be making both types of extentions. For the resone you stated plus a few others.

As for the grips swell yes on my 2nd design I have countour in both thr right and left grips. That version will be down the road a while as Im concentrating on the flat grips for now.
I will keep posting to keep you updated.

Thanks

I've heard the Pearce grip extensions for the Kahr will work on the Rohrbaugh magazines with a little modification for the heel release.

I put my 6rd MK9 mags next to my R9 mags and they look almost identical in shape and size.

 ;D
Well here is the first extention just of the fixtures.
I deleted the rads because it keeps bigger fingers on the grip.

I will be having the first batch black anodized next week.
I set aside a few to keep bright alu finish in case someone wants that look.
I hope to have the first contoured extention next week also.
Any thoughts please. I can change things at this point, but after the weekend, it will be harder to do.

Im still working on Pricing, should have a final cost after Anodizing.
my worry is The pricing is going to scare everyone off. :'(
It is taking better part of one hour per part to machine.  My normal shop rate is $80.00 a hour. I just cant justify 80 for a extention!!lol  But if you were to take this part to any machine shop in the USA it wold cost you over $100 :o
I consider My Pup a work of art from a machining aspect. And so I have tried to keep the Up to that standard with these parts. I hope those of u that find my pricing ok, also find my work is worthy of being on a gun like the R9 ;D

The countoured extention are still another concern all together. It has a total of 3 setups to compleat This of course ads to the time on the cnc. This ='s more cost. But I will try to keep it as close to the first extention as possible.

Thanks for looking
Bryce

PS
Would anyone be interested in red or blue anodizing??

I'm up for one or two - in black - depending on the price. The brothers would be missing a bet if they didn't eventually offer these in glass-renforced nylon, especially the contoured version.

IDM:  The grip extensions look excellent - very well designed and beautifully machined!  For me, however, one of the most important aspects of the R9 is its small size.  As a result, I'm most interested in grip enhancements that improve hold and control without increasing the pistol's dimensions.

So I'll be waiting, with great anticipation, for your grips, especially the contoured version.  Given your excellent work on grip extensions, I'm sure the grips will be outstanding!

Thanks for your thoughts. Im sure ther are many out ther that feel the same way. I personaly have large pockets so ther is no size issue for me.

well my wif didnt like it but I was in the shop all weekend and all night, and finished the first rin of the streight extentions. :D :D

It was snowing hard today in the panhandle of Idaho, so I  stayed in the shop and started on the contoured extentions. I finished 2 of them and here they are!!

I have Medium sized fingers, you can see there is plenty of room for 2 large finger with the contoured extention.
My wife can get all here finger on it with out any problem.

The hook really helps pull from my holster, it adds a recognizable feture when reaching in blindly. you can start pulling befor having a firm grip on the but of the gun.

>>Hi Psycho...

You are correct about the Pearce mag extension working for the R-9.  The model is the same used for the Kahr PM9.  It takes about a minute to cut out a slot on the rear bottom of the black plastic extension to accomodate the mag release on the R-9 and they look and function very nicely in my opinion.  I forget the cost...something like $10 for two from Pearce.

TW and all,

It is always good to know all the options.

The question here is:  do you want plastic or metal?
I prefer metal.  Plastic has no 'soul'.

My Opinions only,  Mike

Mike...

I hear what you are saying but I'm so used to plastic on my other guns that I've never thought twice about it.  I've always looked at such an accessory as more of a functional issue (makes a BIG difference on the R-9...!).

Matter of fact I don't think I've ever seen other metal mag extensions on a gun besides the ones shown on this thread.  That said - they do look beautiful and if any gun deserves them - it's the R-9...TW<<

plus the Pachmayr grip allows me to get some serious

Bryce quit making these in part because of a friend's tragic accident. I doubt if he would consider making them again but he is very talented with his hands and machines.
