Ok I've got sig fever again. Had the 224 9mm extreme out today with the R9. Sweet shooter. Working on that DA/SA transition as well as negotiating the extra weight for winter months so when my 239 gets here I will be ready to break it in and slap it in a holster 😁

I found what appears to be a very nice 239 in .357 sig and a .40 barrel made in Germany for $610 shipped.

Looking forward to the slightly heavier gun for the livlier .357 round. Currently only have the G27 with conversion barrel for 357 sig.

Looking at it now I'm wondering if I should have gone with a 224 in 357 sig as the 239 and 224 are virtually the same weight, but the 224 holds a few more rounds. We'll see.

Of course I'll keep anyone interested posted.

Well I was able to take my new sig 239 in .40 and .357 to the range today.

VERY NICE shooting pistol.

I started with 50 rounds of .40 to just check it out and it shot like new.

Then I ran 85 rounds of .357 sig through it. Very hot round, but the recoil was very tamed by the heavier 239. The last time I ran it through my G27 and it did well and was very accurate, but it also had quite the recoil.

Well I left the range with the thoughts that my favorite G27 may be dethroned. I love the polymar frame for the 9 mm and 40 and even the 45 (G36), but the small frame was quite lively with the 357 sig.

I feel this is an excellent cartridge and that the heavier 239 may be my colder weather gun. I really like the pistol.

One other thing I really like is the mags are very slim so they ride well in the pocket. I don't like Glock mags in the pocket. I don't like a 1911 mag in the pocket. I have several belt mag pouches, but it's too much of a pain for me to deal with. If I'm carrying single stack I want a spare mag in the left front pocket. This one works well for that.

All in all I really like my new purchase. I have added yet another sig to the collection and I just love the quality of it.

I am thinking I will justify heavier CCW to fire a larger round, but my 9mm preference would be a polymar or micro gun since the recoil isn't hateful.

I would post pics but I'm afraid tracker will make fun of me 😁

Thanks. I will put some pics up but this one is not a looker. It is an all business -black on black model. It doesn't go well with the fiesso boots I normally wear. Lol. Thanks for the input on it prior to purchase. It is a real nice piece.

Depending on your hand size Sig sells a short trigger that really suits me well. You may want to look at it.

That is actually a feature of the sweet shooting 224 extreme that I own. I would like to fit the 239 with the SRT. What is the best way to go about that in your opinion Tracker? Is that a gun smith project?

Thanks for the advice. I think that probably pushed me over the decision making process on this one.

The SRT is definitely a gun smith project but not a difficult one; just shop around and find one with many references who has a track record.

Here is my plane Jane rocket launcher.

I just received 550 rounds of 357 sig to work through this winter.

I really like this sidearm. Now I just need to get more training time on the DA/SA and get used to the weight. I think it will work great as a winter gun, but I imagine the solo, R9 and G27 will be back at it again in summer.

My next range time I will stack it side by side with my G33 (really just a 27 with the LW .357 sig conversion barrel) and see how much the DA trigger pull complicates things.

Anyway, here is the plane Jane pic before I get my new extreme piranha grips. Then, I can wear my wide brim, dogg pound shades and my Fiesso boots. Lol.

There is nothing wrong with plain Jane when she breathes nothing but fire.

Lol! Very true sir, very true.

Speaking of which, I am reading up on the double tap and perhaps gold dot or HST (can't remember) and they are saying that their muzzle flash is almost nonexistent for this round. I found that pretty impressive since I know that FLASH and the BANG are the 2 biggest critisisms of the .357 sig round that I have read (now that ammo is available for the price of .45 again)

With your firearm and ammunition inventory I think you can hold off the first wave without resupply.

JoshA: I just read on one of the forums that the metal used in your Sig is a hybrid metal that was obtained from the Roswell crash...interesting.
Having a gun in your hand is much more effective than having the entire police department on the phone!
