Title: I'm a lousy shot!
Post by: Recluse on December 16, 2010, 06:44:29 PM
Went to the range yesterday, for the first time after breaking a bone in my hand at the end of August.

Shooting sure isn't like riding a bike- Learn it once, and never forget.

My Weaver stance looked more like an Amoeba stance!  I've never seen the gun jump so much from recoil.  I bet anybody watching thought I'd never shot a gun before.

I always practice right-hand only, left-hand only, and with both hands.

My grip strength is still very poor, and may be why I was a bit limp-wristed.  After a few magazines, it was getting difficult to simply reload.  Probably a bit soon for extensive shooting, but at least I'm to the point where I could defend myself if my life depended on it.  Overall, most of the shots fired were respectable as far as placement on the targets, but it sure felt odd.

Moral of the story:  Practice often!

Recluse.  Glad to see you're able to be back at the range; time will heal the grip strength, for sure.  Good target results after such an injury.
