She cannot operate a Rohrbaugh R9S effectively, "Too much recoil, Don't like the way it fits my hand, the slide is hard to move" are some of the things I hear.  She carrys a S&W 642
Airweight now.  I would love to find a really great deal on a .380 Rohrbaugh, then if she did not like it I could sell it for what I paid and get her something else.  When she is looking for something she wants she knows when it is right. Took her 6 months to find her Lexus.  The search goes on :)

Chief,
Have you considered the Kahr line, I have a P-380, and a PM40, (and a PM9 on the way) and the 380 is small, thin and light, and very pleasant to shoot, much better than the LCP I had, It is also very accurate.
The PM9 (9mm) is a little bigger than the 380, but still very compact and the Kahrs are well made pistols. They come in poly and metal frames, a lot of choices and plenty of accessories available.

A Kahr PM9 for your viewing pleasure.

The Kahr Black Rose Edition is nice as well:

And here is my P380, I polished both sides of the slide and the barrel. (the dark area at the end of the slide is the reflection of a branch on the tree overhead)
There is also a Black Rose model in the P380, and all the models come with a black slide option also.

Nice looking pieces. Wonder how hard the Black Rose Editions are to find. She likes to hold the differant guns and compair as she has trouble remembering how how the guns differ in Balance and feel.

I located a few of the P380 Black Rose editions but none of the 9mm. The 380 Black Rose are newer, the 9mm version has been out a while.
Here is a link to Kahr's site, you can click on the Black Rose info.

Probably find a  regular Kahr PM9 more easily and if she likes that one, order the Black Rose.  Just a thought.

Is she not happy with the 642?

If you're thinking of a .380; a Sig P238 is something to consider. IT IS SO VERY NICE.
1. minimal recoil - built on the expired colt mustang patent/frame, the design is phenomenal for absorbing the recoil.
2. easy to rack
3. easy to take down and put back together
4. LIGHTWEIGHT
5. easy to conceal
6. It is FUN to shoot!
7. Now they have a stainless version!!
8. Jeff with sigpower makes BEAUTIFUL custom grips for them!
9. Meco makes awesome custom hosters for it!

The only downside is the cost of practice ammo - it's almost double the price of other calibers, which makes practicing with it more expensive... but overall, IF I were in the market for the perfect pocket/purse gun for a woman -- this would be THE ONE!

I think that unless she is recoil sensitive, and if she was considering a 45, probably is not, I would pass on any 380s.
As MrsFos stated ammo cost and availability, not to mention the lesser stopping power.

I agree with John, there;  keep looking for that ideal .45.    :)

She really likes firing my Nighthawk, but that gun is a bad thing to use as an example of .45 recoil. I think she would love a 9mm 1911 style gun. But it is her gun I want her to have exactly what she wants.

I have a 1911 9mm and I like it A LOT too. If you were closer I'd be happy to let her try it out. There is another lady in our club who shoots one in IDPA and her's is really nice too!

Mine is a commander length and I only use it for the range; I've been leaning toward looking for one in an officer's size (maybe for carry)!

She likes the Officer size. In particular the Kimber Ultra CDP
I would like to find one in a 9mm but they are rare in this area. She looked at a Nighthawk T3 . It has an Officer sized frame but a Commander sized slide, so that got voted down.

Chief.  Sounds like the Kimber Ultra CDP is the one.  Go get it!    ;D
