Slide cracks and serial #'s

Hello all,

Please post the serial #'s of R9's you know of that have had slide cracks.  You should of course X out the last one or two digits of the serial #.

I think this is important as there have been a lot of resales of R9's and does anyone know if Rohrbaugh will warranty a slide crack to a second owner?

I have never seen a list of serial numbers of guns which are
 affected.

I understood that only a small number were involved.

To the best of my knowledge, no recall has been issued on the bad batch, but the company always seems to quickly remedy the failures.

OK you seem to have answered one question about if Rohrbaugh will warranty  a gun with a slide crack to a second owner, I think.  No on second thought you have not.  Anyone with definate solid info. please ppst.

There was a case on the forum a while ago where the factory did honor a slide crack for the second owner.

This original owner stuff of Rohrbaugh does bother me some.  I got my first R9 from a friend NIB - unfortunately he had already sent in the warranty card.

Larry Seecamp will fix his guns no matter who was the original owner - and has never to date charged for a repair.  Something for Rohrbaugh to inspire to.

In your question on SS# slide cracks - somewhere in the past I posted around four of them - I have no idea now what thread it was on or the numbers - except one that was 53# - I remember that because my SS# was close to it.  But they were all over the place - not concentrated at one SS# series.  They were though all above 530.

The serial number of my R9 is as follows:   R1051

The slide is not cracked.  

Now, can someone please explain to me what possible misfortune might befall me now that I have revealed the serial number.  My refrigerator also has a serial number.  Should I keep it to myself?

The grip screw on the side were the trigger assembly is will strip out. Keep the refrigerator serial number for  future use.

The difference between your refrigerator and your R9 is this:  the gubmint does not "classify" your refrigerator as a "weapon", they do, however classify your R9 as a "weapon".  They ain't going to confiscate(steal) your refrigerator but they(the  gubmint) just might confiscate your guns.  Hopefullly no misfortune will befall you.  Hopefully no misfortune will come to any of us, at least for a few more years.

Thanks for the reply, riffraff.  I've been around a long while, and I've seen and done a lot of things.  That being said, I still have no idea what you're talking about.

Your are right really.  Serial #'s don't mean much.  Anyone who has ever bought any gun and did the paperwork or has ever subscribed to G&A or Shotgun News or is a member of the NRA or anything like that is already on databases.  Most are business databases for mailing lists and marketing and the like.  The Goverment can get those databases very easily.  But the Goverment also has it's own databases, for instance when an FFL dealer goes out of the business he must turn in all his paperwork to the BATF.

Now hopefully none of us will live to see the day when the mandatory turnins begin.  But it will happen someday.  It is called "creeping socialism".  It started in the U.S. when our first Socialist president, F.D.R. got in office.  Sure we have had a few victories lately with a lot of states passing "shall issue" conceiled carry legislation but we also have had loses.  For instance the State of California passed a law that says that all 50BMG rifles must be registered under Calafornia's "Assault Weapon" law.  Also when the owner dies the rifle can not be passed on to heirs.  There are many NorthEastern and MidWestern states or big cities in those states that have some very Draconian gun laws.

I hope I have explaned things a little better.  You state that you have been around a long while, and seen and done a lot of things.  So,  if you still have no idea what I am talking about then there is nothing I, or I believe anyone else, can do for you.

I think a bigger issue of posting serial numbers is the potential for someone to report your pistol stolen which could be problematic later.

Well that is an issue I had not thought about but it is probably the best reason not to post any gun's serial # that I have ever heard.

You are probably right if you think that an individual or small group of individuals might try to find out where you live and steal your stuff.  If one is paranoid that the goverment is keeping tabs on oneself than as I already stated we are all on at least several databases already so it is to late to try to be under the radar.  But you are right, it is best to be careful on any public forum.  As for me, I don't own many guns(really) but the ones I own are in a heavy fire resistant gun safe.  I don't have a wife or kids for any BG to threaten and I am armed all the time whenever I am not at or going to or from work(I work for the Federal Goverment) so a BG would just have to kill me because even if he had the drop on me I am going for my gun and I ain't giveing him the combination.
