Post by: Thomasconnor on March 17, 2017, 09:50:43 AM
It's easy to claim that one places function over form, but this fellow leaves no doubt!...Tom

Ugh, came here looking for some vintage porn from my youth and find that disturbing picture.  My eyes, my eyes, LOL.

Guess you can argue substance over style................ just glad that is not my handgun.

Look at the pictures of the left side. In front of the top grip screw is is scratched all to heck. What's it worth? $600 TOPS?  :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

It seems that if your hand was too high on the grip the clip would slice your finger or slow the slide enough for a failure.

It looks like a bug looking for a windshield.

I asked seller this morning, 10 a.m., if that 'joke' was screwed or riveted on. He has yet to answer. I then saw the left side scratches and said NO WAY at any price.  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

The clip is attached with two screws. "There are two small holes drilled and tapped to install a bench made belt clip see photos."  Also, are those scratches on the left or is that just frame rail grease?

If that was the ONLY issue maybe,  but with that cancer on the right i'll pass.

Close look on the left side and I would say that is just grease from the slide to frame fit. You WILL have to live with the two drilled holes on the right hand side of the slide though. Frankly, other that the two holes in the slide, it actually looks like a pretty clean gun and it is also near the end of our builds with a S.N. of R5980.

Worth a look anyway guys. It probably hasn't been shot a lot either.

Good Luck...............

I sent seller a question about those 'left side issues' asking if they were grease or scratches. His response was " I DON'T KNOW. IT'S JUST A USED GUN I GOT." You decide.

Te slide issue MAYBE. The slide AND frame issues NO WAY.

Looking at it again today.  I think the opening bid is too high, if he would start it lower I might take a shot at it.

At the end of the day, remove the clip and plug the holes.  You will have a fine carry gun that will probably do everything it was designed to do.

With no bids, and the auction ending in a few hours I will be keeping an eye out if he relists it at a lower opening bid.

We will see.

43 minutes left and still $800. I asked AGAIN about the 'issue' on the left side, grease or scratch. He did not answer. Also no box. I would be in it for $600 MAYBE $650 but no more.

Each to his own.

I THINK Eric said no more slides left. I once was offered a Colt 1911 that had the slide welded. Seller said he shot it but I had to pass.

The RIGHT person can weld stainless and a good gunsmith can get it running but you are looking at $400-$600 to get it going. Heck I paid $900 for my LNIB R9 with 2 mags.  :) :) :) :)

At least the guy was honest about it and shot a good photo.

Williams might be able to replace that slide on warranty.

I'm surprised no one sees the enhanced value of that customized pistol; no holster necessary.

Isn't quality evident because they threaded the holes instead of using rivets?...Tom

Well someone did, 1 bid for the opening price $800 and it is now sold.

Hopefully that is not the last we will hear from the gun.  Maybe a member, or soon to be member will come forward.

Hey guys, I just want to let you know I found another box of new and old parts I had laying around and I DO have a few more slides that I would feel are good, so if anyone needs one. . . . . they are still available as of right now.

Regards to All . . . . .

My issue was with the frame. I asked seller if it's grease or scratch. No answer.
