The slides are made in-house at the Rohrbaugh factory.

I thought the same thing; made in lots of 16.

Initially, I was told the same thing.... However, this is what I received on March 10, 2010.

"We are still waiting on slides I called the Vendor but they have not returned our call yet. "

Thank you,

I wonder what vendor makes the slides?

I don't know, but when I spoke with Karl he mentioned working with Smith and Wesson, and what good people they were to work with.

At a first glance it appears that Rohrbaugh may not be making the slides now.

That could be the case.

My bet is they are still making the slides.  I think that Smith does do the black finish on the stealth models for Rohrbaugh.  Is yours a Stealth?

WOW, that is weird.  I made a trip to several gun manufactors last week in that area.  I now wish we had made the ferry over to long island to check out the Rohrbaugh shop and see what's going on with the R brothers.  I'm not sure why but them once making the slides and now not making the slides just don't seem right to me.  I guess they found sombody that can produce them cheaper than they could.  The only other reason I could think of would be that they found sombody that could produce them better than they could but I dought that could happen.

Here is a pic from the faqs site showing how they used to make the slides.

Maria was very nice on the phone, but she seemed surprised when I asked...
If you look at Rohrbaugh's website it is kinda implied that they do not make everything.

"Our firearms are designed with the use of CAD/CAM programs. CNC machines perform the manufacturing. Then each gun is then hand fitted and assembled in our state of the art facility. The materials used are of the highest grade, including quality stainless steel, 7075 aircraft aluminum, G-10 grips and Wolff springs."

See how it says that "each gun is then hand fitted and assembled in our state of the art facility." They only say that the guns are assembled by them, but do not say that they manufacture the actual parts.

It almost sounds like the Browning Hi-Power:

"Made in Belgium"
"Assembled in Portugal"
