I don't know how to judge the fit (this is the only pocket holster I've owned, and all my other holsters are Kydex), so I'll try to describe it. The fit is snug. If you held the R9 by the grip and gave it a shake, the holster wouldn't just fall off. At the same time, it doesn't seem too snug. In the pocket, using the thumb brace on the holster, it slides out of the holster without much resistance. In other words, the fit seems about right to me. If you like it looser, I'm assuming you could wrap the R9 in cellophane and either let it sit in the holster for a while, or work it in and out, to loosen it.
