That is one of the last R9s put together. The end of the run serial number there!

Good to see people will still pay for nice things in today's world.

A friend of mine who was 25 years older than I was at the time once said to me that sometimes you reach a point in your life when not everything has to make economical sense. I am now as old as he was back then & I can now see myself following his advice once in a while. I understand the logic.

I have one just like it and I paid $1900+ I think.  I have never seen one for any less than that to be honest.

They are the sharpest looking of any of the R9's in my opinion and shoot great.  I have never shot it in doors but the porting takes the flip out and noise wise I could tell no difference.  I chronographed the same ammo in the ported R9 and a standard one and got no difference.  That surprised me.  I talked to Bob Cogan about that and he said they found that with those very short barrels there was hardly any drop in velocity.  He found that the noise difference to be negligible  also in very short barrels.

To each his own but I see no reason to port a small carry weapon that was made for self defense at short range. Beauty, aesthetics, and collectibility are another matter but there is no doubt that an R9 has its own appeal and ergonomics even in the standard versions.

I probably would not port one either tracker just because it is really not needed.  The front and back strap checkering should be standard on a R9.

I will say this though, all the reason people give for not porting I found to be untrue.  Noise, flash, and velocity reduction are just not a problem with a 9mm.

I have quite a few comped guns but the only ported auto loader I have shot is a Springfield V16 45 Super.  Noise and flash are seen with it.  I have a comped 357 Coonan and it is  blaster.

Here is an Auto Mag at Dusk in the Desert.  Click to see.

That is indeed a flamethrower panorama as described at the bottom of the photo.

I recognize a few usernames in the bid history. I'm sure it went to a good home.
