Another R9s Robar for sale on GunBroker
« on: June 29, 2009, 01:01:04 AM »
I was wondering if it was the same one that
right_to_bear_arms sold.

John:

I'm virtually certain that it's the same gun. The serial number of RTBA's R9 had five characters which could be clearly seen. It sold for $1,736.00. The serial number of the one now up for auction shows four characters, but they are the same as the first four on RTBA's pistol and the item description states, (*Last digit(s) digitally obscured in photos for security reasons). The starting bid this time is $1,795.00.

Afterthought:  I'm a capitalist through and through, but I rather regret seeing one of these R9 masterpieces being bought and flipped like some used car.

I agree and my first thought was it was the same gun. I don't know how much they can make off it the first owner couldn't get what he paid.

As a relative newby here, would someone explain why this gun is more valuable then the current R9's?

Thanks

IMO, it isn't but you throw in a few things like low s/n,
carbon fiber grips [if they are], and a $300 Robar treatment
and someone thinks they are sitting on a fortune.

As with anything else on this planet's market place it is only
worth what someone is willing to pay. I don't know if it has
sold again, yet.

The sn is 3600 if it is the same gun sold by right_to_bear_arms
there are no carbon fiber grips on it just Hogue G-10s $69, it does have the $300 Robar finish, and is supposed to be hand fitted and assembled by Eric Rohrbaugh. And they were only made in a limited number.

My two cents: LOVE the one tone slide/frame. It is sad, (whatever the circumstance), to have actually lost money, for so fine a gun, within so short a duration of ownership.

The pistol in question failed to garner any bids at $1795.  It has been relisted here at, um, $1795.

STILL love the one tone frame/slide. The G10 grips appear to be Hogue custom; still a far cry from CF but a good looking gun.

As to the numbers, I always say "value needs a price and price needs a buyer".

Yep!  It's how bad you want it, and what you're willing to pay!

Lucky for me the grips are not CF as I would be tempted yet again. Still, I love that one tone frame and slide. Yes, I know, I am repeating myself and should probably refrain from looking at the post on gunbroker.

I really had to not think about those last  $300.00 black CF grips.  My wants were running rampant until finally I couldn't justify that price.  Still.....it was tempting!!

Wouldn't it just be too much to have one with an NP3 finish,
black carbon fiber grips, and tritium sights?
