Title: Chilling Police Video
Post by: DDGator on November 08, 2005, 10:05:26 PM
Sorry if many of you have seen this before... I think we all need to see it.

This is chilling police dash cam footage of the murder of Dep. Kyle Dinkheller, RIP, of the Georgia Lawrence County Sheriffs office.

Warning: this footage, while showing no graphic violence on screen, is chilling to watch.

http://www.filecabi.net/host/file/officervsguy/wmv

I think this video has real value to people like us who carry guns and may someday have to make a decsion when to pull the trigger.  Deputy Dinkheller waited while this suspect loaded his M1 carbine before he took decisive action -- hoping until the last moment that he wouldn't have to shoot.  By the time the Deputy started to shoot, he was outgunned and didn't stand a chance.

Lets all learn some lessons from this and say a prayer for this young Deputy and his family.  God bless his soul.

It's a shocking video.  The poor officer lost his life because he didn't want to harm someone else, he didn't want to get sued, hurt someone's family, have to explain, and on, and on.

Let's hope it never happens to any of us.  If we absolutely have to shoot, I hope it can be early enough to save ourselves.

Yes Duane - have seen it a while ago and felt appropriately sickened.  I could not and still do not fully understand the poor man's lack of action when under such threat.

It has been discussed much but overall the main concensus is lack of training and mindset - maybe mostly the latter.

It is horrific in the extreme but should be seen by all who can to show how things can go so terribly wrong.  The perp was little more than an executioner - I also think deeply of this man's family.

Mere thought of it again angers me badly.

Pardon me for butting in. What happened to the man that shot the deputy? Was he apprehended?

My understanding is that he was apprehended and sentenced to death.  His insanity plea failed to convince the jury.  I am not sure if the sentence has been carried out.

The very same thing happened over in Tampa a few years back..  A guy named Carr, was under arrest for shooting his girlfriends Son. Was arrested and Rear Handcuffed in the back of a plain Detective car. He "Slipped' the cuffs and was re- cuffed in front.   He had a cuff key arond his neck, and un locked the cuffs.  He dove across the seat to grab the drivers shoulder holstered gun,  shot and killed both Cops..    Stepped to the rear opened trunk to retreave his SKS he had killed the boy with.  A Highway Trooper pulls up a couple lanes over, Carr walks over to him and shoot him thru the window..
Some real bad dudes out there.....

Gator will be checking out the link a little better, I think,   I have PM'ed him about the XXX links that are that in his post..  I'm sure he doesn't know about, yet..

Well, frankly I hadn't noticed, nor had anyone else commented that there were other videos available at the website that hosts this particular video.  In fact, anyone who has a web content filter in place (like at work) might not ever be able to get to the police video from this link.

I have looked and cannot find a working link anywhere more appropriate.

To me there is a distinction between linking to a site that also has questionable material and linking to questionable material.  The benefit here may outweight the harm since there is no other way to present the video.

Maybe I am wrong and that is hypocritical on my part... I don't know.  If I am being inconsistent in my enforcement of forum rules let me know and I will disable this link.

I noticed only the video, but then I tune out peripheral links, spam, and advertising anyway.  The links to junk are no problem for me.  I just ignore them and set my computer for a full-system virus/adware/spyware scan each week.

Upon reflection, I deleted my posting of the story on a similarly violent situation occurring last weekend in this area in which the LEO's . . . thank God . . . prevailed.  The same sort of heroism occurs on a daily basis across the land.  God bless those who have answered the call to protect and serve!

  Gator

I am not bothered or offended by all the surrounding Porn sites, I just thought they tagged along with the LINK, unknown by you and you had not opened it since posting.

I can not find another way to link the Video either.  If I do, I will post it..

I had a cousin who owned a web site design business.
He told me that there are more porn sites than all the legit websites combined.  He didn't touch 'em but commented they (porn sites) are big, big money.  Guess that's why there are so many of 'em.

Very tragic indeed. :'( It makes me wonder what I would have done in the young LEO's place. I'll say a prayer for his family.

I went to www.lineofduty.com to try to find the video. The link is there, but it seems that the actual video file is missing. I'll investagate further. It's what I do.

I just wish he would have realized he had a lunatic on his hands and got back in his car and retreated.  He was outgunned by someone who obviously had far less to lose than he did.
What a horrible thing to see!

If really necessary I would host this vid - as I have an archived copy.

Once seen tho - from my experience - the content is etched into one's mind!

I agree, it's definately one of the most disturbing things that I've ever seen -- I'd almost say every beginning officer should see it in training, but I've already had to calm down a nervous young cop before who had me pulled over... didn't give me a ticket, though.
