Brand new to the forum. Noticed that there was limited discussion of the Federal 124 gr HST with some mixed reports. I have just bought an R9 - after waiting years for a used one to appear on the market in MA - and have been feeding it with this ammo exclusively so far. For what its worth, no failures of any kind whatsoever. Am on the lookout for the 147 gr HST and will report on results if and when I get any.

welcome and that is what i run also..... :)

I have never read any mixed reviews on the HST 124 gr, only positive comments; but there is always one somewhere.

We used these at the shop when an R9 would come in for warranty work. We also used Federal American Eagle (Red Box) 115 FMJ 9mm for testing both new and warranty R9s. We also had some Golden Sabre 124 JHP laying around for testing. All of these listed here worked well in the gun. ;)

I've always heard good things about HST ammo in 124gr and even better things about the 147gr.

Reloader41, Welcom to the forum and thanks for the post. Most members seem to stick with the 124 Gold Dots or the 124 HST for good results....the HST was recently identified as having the most predictably optimal expansion/penetration characteristics in ballistic gel through denim. Lawman 124 or 147 is good for practice at lesser expense. There are forum members of great experience who favor 115 and 147...depends on which your particular R9 likes best. Eric contributed to a recent post that had some good info on Golden Sabre with its borderline hard primer for the R9.
