Does anyone know what serial numbers Rohrbaugh started with and where they are at now. Just curious as I just picked up my first one and it has a very low Serial number on it.
-
I'm pretty certain they started with #100.
-
The R9s Stealth that Irish Guard ordered for a me a few weeks ago was in the low 23XXs.
-
My R9 Stealth Nightpup (2 weeks +/-) new is also in the low 23XX's. Don't know if they use a different set of #'s for different models, as the number is on the frame. Are all frames black anodized?
-
The early/first models had the natural aluminum/greyish finish on the frame. That was in the below 1000 range.
There are those who have a collection or R9's. They have the early model with the blue carbon fiber grips and the next version with the black carbonfiber grips etc. The thing to remember about the R9 is the serial #'s were not sequential out of the door of the factory. It has been common for someone to get a new R9 with a lower serial # months after someone else got a new R9.
I am pretty sure that there are no special serial #'s for any of the new offerings of the R9. Chances are good that if someone orders one of the premium R9's it will take longer to finish so someone else could get the standard R9(with a higher serial #) quicker.

Hi Killbill,
Welcome to the forum from another newbie.
1) how do you find out the build date?
2) How's Uma?
-
killbill and shaker, welcome to both of you. Enjoy your new pups. Shaker, I enjoyed how you handled DVC. Tom

Ok well I guess I cant get a real good idea when mine was produced. I have serial # r16x. And it is not the aluminum colored frame it is the darker frame almost like a deep cooper color and the blue carbon fiber grips.
-
oh an early one. 8) Tom

Tom do you (or anyone here) have any idea of a breakdown on serial numbers, like at around what number did RB switch to C10 grips,or anything else that might give a timeline on changes / improvements. This question has probably been asked a bunch of times, but I cant find any reference in the posts...
RE: Di Verti Culitis: Thanks!

no I don't Tom

They started with 101,as has been stated earlier..
Now the very early pups had no R prefix on the serial #,also early ones stated Rohrbaugh R 9 s ;) On the right side..
These were Farmingdale marked, with blue CF grips..
I was told by Karl Rohrbaugh that 300 of the blue sets were made..
There were 46-47 of the "early grey anodized" models made-these would not have an R prefix..
When exactly they started the R prefix,I do not know exactly-but it had something to do with the dropping of the s on the side, I believe that the BATFE had a ruling on..
To be able to say at such and such a date, this is when this happened, per serial #-won't work..
RiffRaff had it right about not being sequential..
Consider Farmingdale manufacture "early" and Deer Park "newer" I guess..
I sure do like the old CF blue grips!! 8)

3 different "flavor" frames also...

I have a grey anodized frame with blue grips, has no s on the slide (does have sights) and the serial number is R120. I've had it several years.
best I can tell you.

My Farmingdale, which bears the "R9s" designation and Serial Number 132 (without the "R" prefix), was delivered in May 2004. I had ordered it sight unseen after the prototype was unveiled at SHOT 2002.

Hello folks, its been a while. I purchased my pup May. 2006 from Tom Irish Guard, and remember requesting the black CF grips, as Tom had mentioned they were switching to the G10. He informed me that I may have received the last CF grips in house. My serial # is R142X. Perhaps this puts some perspective on time frame of production and ser #s.
Below is my post from June, 2006
Believe I got the last carbon fiber grips manufactured. It was right at the transition to the the G10.
Pup is still running like a charm!
Again Thanks Tom!!!!
