Title: FINALLY-Back Together

Finally I decided to take the little Rohrbaugh apart for cleaning. It was my first. Thank the Lord for John's tool!!!!  After searching our Forum I found the mistake I was making.

Cleaned and Gun Buttered up for the next time out.

That tool is worth more than he charges. Now that I have mine I think he should double the price  :D

I have two. One at home and one at work. I am fortunate enough to be able to clean and mess with my guns at my office.

One never forgets that first time!  ;)

Seriously, I think it took me about half an hour, and some help from a well-manicured hand of my little wife, to field strip, clean, and reassemble my R9 for the first time. These days, with the takedown tool, I can do it all in just a few minutes with a few well-practiced moves.

Glad the cleaning is now easier for you.  Fortunately, I don't have to use the tool, yet, but have one of the originals when needed.

I was always bragging on my gunsmithing skills until today. I will never forget this. I am now not for sure if I want to shoot it again because that means another cleaning.

The tool needs to have a way to use it to push out the pin.  I may have to talk to the manufacturer to see about that ...

Maybe a removable stylus like addition ...

The use of a small brass punch works like a charm and someone on the Forum suggested cutting off the end of a que tip and using the stem works great.   May save reinventing the tool; although a good idea.    :)

I used a small punch and pushed the pin right out. My problem was
re-installing the spring.

If any one has a problem with the reassembly, you have just described it. There is a lot of previous discussion on this issue and a little technique goes a long way. The main problem is lining up the spring and guide rod assembly so that it is centered, both horizontally and vertically.

He sure makes that look very easy.  A couple health issues with my hand keeps me from being that smooth, but with John's tool I should have no more trouble  8)
