Probably because these RM380s are not ready to ship from Remington yet. Perhaps Academy posted them early and did not expect to sell many of them, but they may actually have a winner there if it's done right, so they may have been getting more orders than they expected and decided to remove the ad until they actually arrive in their store. At least that is my view on the subject matter.   8)   . . . . . perhaps.

I called Remington. The RM380 will have a carbon steel slide. Really?  C'mon guys. You make a gun designed for deep concealment, could you make the slide stainless?  The barrel is apparently SS. And the first Alabama commemorative will be stainless, but production will be blued.

Love me a blued gun, not for a hideout gun though.

Greetings, RF members.

Just spoke with my LGS manager right in the figurative front yard of Remington's Huntsville Alabama facility and he said the same, a few months away, August or September.

Sorry I missed this post a few weeks back Ray. Sounds like solid info. . . . . Thank you!   ;)

I read on THR - someone spoke to Dan and supposedly Dan said Remington was "improving" the recoil system on the R380

That's what has me worried.  If they would have just followed the original they'd be OK but I don't have any faith that they can make changes and not screw things up

My father always used to say to me "If you want to predict the future, look to the past". Look at Remington's past........

Let's face it, the recoil system on a 380 the size of the RM380 need not be too complicated.

The R9 is a different animal altogether.

I believe they are doing what we were already working on when they made the offer to buy our company. The intent was to go single spring of the flat variety to simplify things. We were also working on the same concept for the R9 pistol.  ;D

Cabela's is listing them now with a pretty wide price range of $399.99 to 569.99)

I called Cabela's though and asked them if they actually had the pistol in stock and the guy I spoke to said that not only was the pistol not in any Cabela's stores, the pistol wasn't in their inventory system and he said it didn't look like they were going to get the pistol anytime soon.  I'm assuming their inventory record has an ETA field but either they haven't been given a date by Remington or the ship date is so far out it hasn't but put in their inventory system or something like that.

Yeah... Well... speaking of Remington's claim of "the longest barrel in its class"...

Not to be a pooper, but "its class" could use some defining since the .380 ACP G42 has a longer barrel.
Maybe Remington defines the RM380's class as being among metal framed .380s, in which case the Bersa Thunder and others might become problematic.

Yep, I'm hoping someone imports the Tanfoglio FT9 Someday.  Longest barrel in a 380 ACP production gun- 4.6 inches :)

OK, the last we heard here on the forum, Remington was going to start shipping their RM380 in August or September right?

We're getting toward the end of September now, has anyone heard anything more?
