Slide markings?
« on: January 29, 2006, 08:13:23 PM »
Question regarding my slide as follows:
I have an R9S but, the slide is marked only "R9".  Is this
standard or normal.  Just curious.  Tks.

It is normal

Just to add - yes it is normal.

The ''s'' was only there for a short time - as I have on my early Farmingdale.

Eric told me it was dropped because BATF supposedly wanted to make that ''another gun'' - I guess re taxation or something equally annoying!!

Chris,
I have not been around too much lately.  What's this R9 "Farimindale" talk?  Do the new ones have the new location on them and what would that be.  Any other differences between the new ones and the ones we bought early on?

Mike - the "Farmingdale'' was the original factory - and that is engraved is on left side of slide - R9 on right.

After the move - shucks that is about a year ago already!  The new slides have ''Deer Park'' - reflecting the new factory location.  Still R9 on right.

The grips are now IIRC the CF ones in black and the frame has become close to black anodizing.  I have no new one to check on but think I am right.

Otherwise - R9 is R9 - differences are really cosmetic - tho I think a small change was made to barrels but subtle and concerning the chamber area IIRC.  Someone else may recall this better than me.

After the Shot Show I hope to be privvy to some more news.

Chris,

News..News.. ;)

BTW,You are correct on the Deer Park's being as you said..

I have one in my pocket as I write this.. ;D

IMO I am partial to the Blue grips and earlier Farmingdale frame.. ;) Just my opinion, but a guy likes what he likes!! :o 8)

Cosmetics aside,I believe they are all the same pocket pup.. :)

anybody else not enthusiastic about the "gothic" script used on the "rohrbaugh r9" and "deer park, n.y." engraving?  i know it's totally subjective, but i'd prefer something simpler and more modern looking as far as font goes.

boy, talk about nit picking.

but, i would . . . the current script is hard to read.

Sits OK with me!!  I agree it is not as legible perhaps as a simple sans serif but hey - that'd have no character!!

I think the font in a way adds to the ''panache'' of the lil' fella actually. :)
