Title: Were early Rohrbaugh’s built in non sequential numbering order?
Post by: PursuitSS on May 01, 2018, 06:53:40 PM
My first Rohrbaugh I purchased new and the serial # is R 42x, the slide is marked Deer Park in the same style script as the Rohrbaugh R9 marking.

I’ve found a Farmingdale marked unit that the serial # is R 7xx.

Yes, they were non sequential.

Yes, they were non sequential.

It's more likely you have a Deer Park gun that had a cracked slide or damaged slide that was replaced with a leftover Farmie slide.  There was a nickname for those that I can't remember.  "Farm Park" or something.

It is specious to suggest or draw any conclusions about cracked slides and sequential or non sequential serial numbers. Those cracked Farmingdale slides that were replaced by Deer Park slides were ignominiously monikered as "Deer Dales." There were many other production runs that were either sequential or non sequential for various reasons.

Thanks Phil, now I know what to call the one I have like that.

Farm Park, LOL.  I like it!

‘Deer Dales” is what I couldn’t remember.  I guess that is the opposite of what I have.  I have a Deer Park that had a damaged slide which was replaced with a left over Farmie slide.

Two sources of non-sequential serial numbers that I know about are the custom numbers like the non-R 200’s and the frames that were sent off for special plating or coating that came back to the factory months later and were built into finished guns with their higher serial number siblings.

Farm Park has a softer ring to it.
