Got guns for Christmas - show us your loot!!
« on: December 27, 2005, 01:12:26 PM »
I'm sure that a few members were either given -- or gave themselves -- a new firearm as a present.  Show us your loot!

Here's mine to myself.  A NIB Kahr T40 with the Novak night sights.  This will be a great companion to my PM40. Accurate too.  I took it the day I bought it to a range for the factory recommended 200-round break-in.  250 rounds of UMC downrange without a hitch.

The size and weight is very similar to my favorite belt carry piece, the P7 -- except in .40 rather than 9mm.  It will be a tough decision as to which one to put on the belt.

I'm not a gun expert -- but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night...

... I see it as a good companion to my Rohrbaugh R9 ...

Hey, Fudster,
I just got a Sig 229 SAS just before Christmas.  I really like the DAK action.  Out of the box, one of finest I've ever had.
Trigger pull is very smooth and eay to hold on target, even for two three or more shots.  I have shot many groups ( mag full 12 rounds) within 6 inches at 25 yards rapid fire (five seconds or less)  I love this Sig.  It's my 12th Sig.

Nice pics guys - some nice hardware.  I must be too ''traditionalist'' Alan - can't get to like the looks of that SAS. (yet!)

Don't particularily like wood grips on a carry gun -- I always think of wood grips on a gun that is to be displayed and rubber grips for a carry gun but I read on THR that the wood grips actually help absorb the recoil better that rubber grips so for now I'm going to leave them.

Anyone have any opinions on that?

Yes, I have several Belgian BHP's with wood grips that are
very carryable. I think it depends on the texture and how
well your hands integrate with them. Your SAS looks to have
good "grippage".

Nice loots, guys! I traded out several guns for these two fine items and received them during the Holidays:

Happy New Year!

Very nice - great pics too. :)

Question - that first pic - I could imagine you used a rising front plate camera, you have such extreme depth of field.  What did you do/use?  I am curious!

Or did you do some skulduggery placing a new background? :P

Occurred to me - I could add to the photographic enjoyment in this thread, by adding my extra SIGs-  they happened before Xmas but heck - I'll count them in the category, almost!

Chris: I just pointed my lowly Sony HandyCam and clicked! ;D It could use a bit more front light, though. It was almost 80 degrees here in Orlando on New Years day so I brought the 1911s out for a family pic.

Tracker: The Ed Brown's finish does look like HC but it is actually just matted stainless. You can view it's details here:

Well, I went to the range near the office hoping to find a nice condition, inexpensive colt detective special.  Well, what do I find but a really nice used P7M8.  Hmm, too much and I already have one on order.  What? you have room to move . . . (bargaining begins - end result P7M8 for $1100 with an additional mag, so three in total, and box, etc.).  Went to pick up a $300 - $400 gun and spent $1000.  Well, at least I'll have one to shoot and the new one on order will play Queen of the Safe.  So, in essence this was a Christmas present to self.

That is a very nice used P7M8; I have two except one is a
PSP; it is good, too; great, high quality gun and very
accurate .
