Title: High Polish Blue 1911
Post by: Aglifter on August 17, 2006, 01:31:07 AM
Anyone know of a company that makes one?  Or a good refinisher?  Kimber used to, but they don't seem to offer that finish in their current catalog.  I don't need anymore CCW pieces, but I'd like a nice, pretty, deep blued (like my '76 Dan Wesson, preferrably) one to use at the range, maybe shoot IDPA occasionally -- just a nice toy.

Brad - no pic to hand right now but - Jess Gypin gunsmith does a nice blue, but somewhat of a dull blue - no doubt tho seeing as he uses traditional salts bath, he can do polished as well.

I run his web site and am actually behind in putting up some new stuff.  Tried to find a link to a post he made showing some of the pics I will be placing.

Anyways - his site is http://www.ontargetcgw.com/ - it is still very much a work in progress but take a peek if so inclined and, I'll try and get the new pics up soon.  I am sure he could blue to exact customer spec's.

I think you may still be able to get Kimber's Royal carry through their custom shop, though I am not sure.  You could call Kimber or talk to your local gun shop to see if any are available or if you could order a gun with that finish.

Brad:

You might also check out Clark Custom Guns in Princeton, Louisiana.  I've been very satisfied with their work.
