Hi from Kuwaiti Naval Base (pictures... now)
« on: October 23, 2005, 12:13:44 PM »
I just wanted to drop you guys a line and let you know that one of your members was currently overseas serving Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Most of you probably don't know me, as I lurk quite often, but post quite little.  I've been cruising the posts when I can since I've been in the AOR.  Things are pretty good here. Pretty hot and fairly dusty, but I can't complain. If I can ever find the time to search for a good photo dump, I'd like to post some of the photos I've taken since I've been here.  We'll see...

DF - stay safe there fella and watch 6 at all times.  I am most concerned for you guys with these damned IED's - they are bad.

Many folks use photobucket for pics, also there is imageshack IIRC.  Do if you can try and find hosting and post us some pics - it helps to feel more in touch with you guys who are so far away.

Take care - I guess tho being at the base you are much less at risk relatively - hope so.

Well, this first one is just of the normal size houses that you'll see just off of the highways.

This is a bunch of c-130's on the flightline.

Here is lovely, lovely sand everywhere you look.

Here is one of the contractors that I work with on occasion and me of course.

There is actually a quite chilling story to go along with this photo. This ship was a watery grave to many Kuwaiti Officers in the first Gulf War. Apparently the Iraqis captured a bunch of Officers, put them on this ship and then took it out and sunk it. It was later dredged up and sits on the base to this day.

And here is the lovely Persian Gulf.

I'll post more when I get some more spare time.

DF - GREAT!!  See you got set up with Photobucket. :)

Pics are a bit big tho no probs for me - if resizeable then 700 - 800 pix max can help.

They are tho superb pics - crisp and clear - excellent.  Very pleased you could post some.

Main thing I find perusing those is - a sense of great thirst - looking at all that arid appearance. ;)

Thx again - take care.
