There is a little misinformation in the listing but none the less a VERY nice gun.
-
I noticed that also, but I think he meant well.
-
The 106 is very nice, indeed.
-
This vintage has a special cachet but is there anyone on this forum who thinks that R9s of this era are made as well as they are today?
-
Tracker. I won't be saying yes to your question as I do know the recoil spring is better. There are other things, probably, that we don't know about that is better, and some may know what they are. You bring up a very good point. I'm just intrigued by that 106 number and that it is available to buy and supposedly unfired.
-
R106, that is; looks like a nice specimen if someone wants to add it to their collection. i think the slide and ejector have been beefed up from then, from personal observation. The spring is better also but didn't cross my mind, not to mention the newer magazine springs.
-
Yep! I keep forgetting the R. Makes a big difference.
-
Also, not that it is relevant to anything but there is a lot of grease on the rails, visible through the slide pin hole.
-
added the R, sorry

I've got two older R9's, R340 - Deer Park and R138 Farmingdale. I replaced both recoil springs and all of my magazine springs. Along with replacing all grip screws. I've shot at least 50 rounds of 124gr GD through each one without a failure of any kind. Needless to say, I don't think twice about carrying either one.

If my memory serves me right, there were some slight changes done when the earliest (gray anodized),went to R prefix Farmies.
Then another when Farmie went to the Deer Parkers..
Spring changes, both mag and recoil, were done a bit later, and of course these can be retrofitted to any pup..

That is how they came from the R bros at that time!!
Superlube to the rescue!!

You should sell your "R138" to Richard! ;D
If anyone has R143, let me know..... ;)

Gheez. I was about to flip out. I thought it was #106 at first. This is still a great buy; a new early R9 with Carbon Blues! :)
-
Where is Marshbrook? :)
-
I can say that the seller is a TOP notch guy. Gary has some very, very nice stuff!
-
Z....I started out with 1 pup and now I need a license for a dog pound ;D... R106 is a nice piece but someone I know ::) has gotten me very interested in doing a custom R9 with a hard chrome finish and topping it off with a beautifull set of blue carbon fibers...
-
and now $100 less....

I think many people are going to realize that money is tight now and the times you will be able to see a 50% or more profit over Original MSRP gun that is not an antique are very limited. At the price he is asking it is real close to 100% more than MSRP.

and now $200 less..... A few more weeks and I might cave in, lol.

Auction has ended.

It is for sale again. Appears he is asking way too much.
At this time he is hoping for $1495.00 no reserve

Starting bid is $1450. Not a bad price for a NIB early Farmingdale with Blue Carbon Fiber grips. :)

He is discovering he may be over valueing it though.
Like I said before, tough economy. I think the magic number for getting fast reaction would be closer to $1350. That way the guys hoping for investment value would jump on it. The guy that sells under the name
littlej and PAG is discovering that with his overpriced Elite (he is only trying for 200% . Been trying for a long time now.
-
Relisted. Starting bid now $1390. Getting on down there. :)

Chief. You may have been right if it hadn't sold this time. However, close is good! :)
-
Imo the buyer did VERY well at that price!
-
I agree. I thought $1450 was good!
-
It speaks volumes about the pedigreed pup market.

Yes, in many ways we tend to over value them. In these times of a tough economy things tend to drop in price.

I know this issue has been addressed before but I am surprised that #106 is a two tone gun. I had a Farmingdale; (S/N forgotten), that I stupidly sold to buy another gun. (I figured I could always buy another one and when I did I was shocked that factory had dispensed with cf grips). My Farmingdale was a one tone gun with cf grips.
My Robar R9 is special to me as it most closely resembles the lost one tone Farmingdale. From the inception of the R9 was there a one tone and two tone option? Or, when did the two tone overtake the one tone R9?
-
ACP
If you are refering to a silver framed Farmingdale, it is a rare gun.
1 of 14 produced and 1 of 12 sold.
-
I bought the Farmingdale, in March, 2005, from a forum member who knew me from the custom knife world. It was his spare R9. Maybe he preferred the two tone? Now I feel even worse if the one tone I had was so rare.
When I bought my second R9, in 2008, I was bummed by the G10 replacement grips and did not like the two tone gun as much as the one tone.
Ultimately, Yankee 2500 became my "accidental R9 guru" when he wrote in this forum about the (aftermarket) Robar model he had ordered. I found one in the forum classified hours after being posted and have never looked back.
Then Yankee found the Rafter S holster and I ordered the same one. The only R9 matter in which we differ is the mag extension.
-
Does this look like a good place to sell Purses?
-
No worries, the Gator will get 'em! ;D
