Title: Anyone Strip the Screw Threads on the R9?
Post by: chasdo4 on March 03, 2009, 10:08:46 PM
I have been having touble keeping the screws snug when firing (they will come loose and at times, will pop out.)  I spoke to Maria who recommended blue loctite.  I also found the same great feedback on this forum.  Well, I can get three screws to be snug but the 4th one (lower left panel) just will not tighten.  I have tried to clean the hole with alcohol, but no matter what I do, it seems to stay on the loose side.  I was wondering if the threads in the left lower panel hole could be stipped?  Has anyone else experienced this?  If so, any suggestions?  I ordered 10 screws new and can't get any of them to be snug.  If it is stripped, is it an easy fix?  Thanks!  I am gratful for your thoughts and help.

chasdo4,
Bad news:  You have a stripped thread in the frame.
Best option is to send the gun back to Rohrbaugh for repair.
However, at approximately $50 shipping charge, you may be better off taking your wounded Pup to a local gunsmith, if you have one you trust.
If it was my gun, I'd call Rohrbaugh, ask one of the brothers R what they recommend (they will actually talk to you!), and take their advice.

Steve
