Title: Magazine releases while firing.
Post by: bartholomew on February 11, 2008, 11:38:04 PM
Is anyone else experiencing this too?

Sometimes it happens after the first shot, and at other times the magazine pops out after the second or third shot.

Thanks

Today I contacted Rohrbaugh Firearms and told them about the problem I'm having with the magazine. They asked me to send the gun in for inspection. I'll let you know how everything went.

Here are some pics of my Rohrbaugh. . .

bartholomew,

Sorry to hear of your problems..I know that this has been reported before, but do not remember what the cause was determined to be..I believe member RiffRaff had this occur-I may be mistaken,as I am trying to remember offhand..

Beautiful pics BTW!! Wow-A Valentine pup!! 8)

Maybe it's the angle or something, but something at your mag release/magazine does' not look quite right?? (First pic)Looks like your base plate is slid forward?Mag release appears too far to the rear, and your right grip seems to have a bit of a gap??

Now the second picture looks normal..

Just an observation, don't know if it means a thing..

BTW-Did I say great photos!!!

Wish you luck on a quick fix for your problem..

Brenden

Bartholomew,

Yes those are great pics.

I know it s**** to have to send it in but I am sure the problem will be corrected.
Thankfully I have not had that particular problem with my R9's but I did have the same problem with a Walther PPK a long time ago.

I concur with Brendon.  I did notice that your mag release did not look quite right but it is hard to tell.

Thank you for your kind words, Brenden and riffraff, and hopefully soon I will find out exactly what is causing the problem. I miss my Rohrbaugh already.  :'( Hehehe.

Take care

I agree with Brenden: in the first photo the magazine is clear-
ly not seated properly.

I agree too.  The mag catch has to overlap the rear of the mag and seat inside the lip on the mag base.  Something isn't right.

Just letting you all know that I got my Rohrbaugh R9S back.

Mr. Karl Rohrbaugh replaced my pistol with a new one. He was very professional, accommodating and very concerned about my situation. I am extremely grateful to him for what he has done for me.

I've also added a Pearce grip extension (for Kahr models) to my magazines which worked out nicely in that it extended the grip so that my pinky has something to grasp onto. I just got back from the shooting range and everything seemed to work out well in terms of the magazine release not being adversely affected.

I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to upload some photos of my new pistol but the system won’t let me. Sorry!

Take care,

bartholomew
