I wish NY would take the hint! Living part time in both VA & NY is like night & day.

Besides all the pro-gun, anti-gun discussions how do
you guys figure N.Y. City has such a low violent crime
rate for a metropolitan area with such a high population?

BTW, I am in your camp.

I'm inclined to attribute much of the improvement in New York City's crime rate to the law-enforcement policies instituted by former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani during his tenure.  Here is one link to an unofficial source:

And this is another interesting link on nationwide trends issued by the White House:

Looks like the new NYC mayor wants to change things, by not putting bad guys in jail for a long time and go after gun dealers and other states.

You know, common sense isn't all that common. If it were,
more people would have it;^)

This is a clear cut case that had no defense (gun pun?); a person
can't be expected to only protect themselves sometimes.  If we're
gonna be in charge of our destinies, then darn it, let us be in charge!
It's one big DUH!

I think the final straw for all was realizing our government cannot
be everything to all people and was never meant to be. New Orleans
showed us that chaos could rule, if we let it. Perhaps this is our return
to polite society again. Who'da thunk it?

Steve
PS-I was told a really long time ago (perhaps it was a Tuesday;^), that the Soviets NEVER considered invading the USA because we were all armed to the teeth and they could never defeat us. I kind of admire that common sense thinking...

I heard it was the Japanese who decided not to invade the U.S. West Coast because of all the weapons in the hands of the "well regulated militia".

The Japanese could invade San Francisco now that those 'sheeple' have voted to outlaw privately owned guns.

Some people really never learn... >:(

Having lived on Long Island all my life (40 miles from Manhattan)  I thank all of you who feel my pain.  Mayor Gulliani cleaned up the big city by enforcing the laws on the books.  I saw a drastic change for the better under his administration.  Now I fear we are going back to it's those evil guns that are killing people so we have to stop those guns.  By the way, how did we end up with Hilary??

She is a reverse carpet bagger with residual
fodder from bill. What we need to figure out
is how to send her packing back to her origin.
