R9 grips
« on: August 23, 2005, 09:55:11 AM »
I'm willing to buy some additional grips for the R9.

We are just waiting for someone to introduce ivory, pearl, silver, exotic wood, etc.

I'll admit that the present grips are terrific!

And, of course, a comprehensive assembly-disassembly kit would be outstanding.

Bill, extra grip options would certainly be nice but again we have to remember the somewhat critical nature of the right side panel - machined out as it is for clearance for the trigger actuation link.

That panel therefore counts in a way as a critical ''component'' rather than simply handling comfort, aesthetics and ergonomics.

I think if suitable material is used then we could see other grips but it will most certainly have to have strength and macinability similar to the CF grips.

Further small thought - if after-market grips were obtained and used and, a function problem occurred with trigger operation - I would not expect Bros R to feel they still had to honor  guarantee aspects... unless that is - said grips were ''Rohrbaugh approved"

I see what you mean, Chris.  In addition, I find the thought of Carbon Fiber very appealing.

Seeing the R9 with the silver grips did, however, leave quite a favorable impression.

Silver or  ivory would have a tremendous look, but I would not want to compromise the pistol's operation.

IMO, nothing beats the coolness factor of carbon fiber grips.  The R9 is a very hi-tech gun, from design to manufacturing to materials and CF is the hi-tech grip material of choice!  I love wood grips, but for my R9 I'll keep the CF.

Brenden, Call Rohrbaugh, they may have extra grips available sometime. To my knowledge all the blue are gone.
