Henry "Mare's Leg"
« on: May 28, 2016, 01:38:33 PM »
I stopped by my FFL's shop the other day intending merely to have some coffee and conversation.  Then I saw this thing chambered for .357 Magnum hanging on the wall behind the counter and it seemed to be calling my name.

Did I need it?

Lord, no!

Did I want it?

Lord, yes! (I've wanted one ever since seeing the Steve McQueen TV series, "Wanted, Dead or Alive," years ago.)

Did I buy it?

Absolutely! 8)

It's no "sniper rifle," of course, but as the expression goes "It's a real hoot to shoot." And the lever action is as smooth as silk.

I think KJ bought a cheaper version of the Mare's Leg. It looks like an excellent close quarters neighborhood controller.

It certainly feels well balanced and comes readily to hand. There is even a belted scabbard/holster for it that I have ordered. Watch this space.

Just one note of caution; don't try the loaded flip cock trick like Steve McQueen.

Well Richard and Tracker, does that mean that neither is willing to juggle running chain saws either?

Carrier landings at night was as close as I came to juggling running chain saws.

Juggling chain saws? Interesting, but I only own one. To get started I'll need to get two more.  (I trust that it's best to start practice with the things not running.  ;))
