Hi All...
I have a question someone might know the answer to. I was wondering when Rohrbaugh stopped engraving "Farmingdale N. P." on the left hand side of the slide of an R9s? Does anyone know what serial number this practice stopped at?
Thanks very much...
Jim

>>Hi Jim...
Unfortunately it is not possible to define changes happening to R9 production by looking at serial numbers because the Rohrbaugh folks do not use slides in numeric order...they simply have a box of loose slides and they are chosen at random by luck of the draw.
Regarding the Farmingdale stamp on the slides...last I heard they were still using up these slides and haven't produced any with Deer Park yet. A gun I picked up a month ago still had the Farmingdale markings. Do you, or anyone else, have guns with the new markings...?...TW<<

Thanks for the reply. My pistol is marked Farmingdale. Are there any pistols that has a slide that is not marked at all as to location? Or does every slide say something?

My last shipment of R9s were marked Farmingdale. That was about 30-45 days ago. Tom

Tom - I confess - I am now not sure at all - what the very latest offerings might/will show!?? Do you have info on that - or TW, Duane??

>>Chris...
My recollections from discussing this with Eric are that new frames will be marked "Deer Park NY". Of course my recollections are tied in with that memory thing - which admittedly ain't what she used to be lol...!
Somebody call Maria -- HELP...!...TW<<

Thanks for the replies everyone...
But I'm still wondering, are there any slides that are just not marked at all on the left side?

jarcher, all slides are marked. Tom

None are unmarked. Federal law requires that the location of the factory be shown on every unit.

Wow! What is the point of that? Is it just another amazingly stupid law? I can understand requiring a unique serial number, but who cares where the pistol was made?

Jarcher, If you and every one else understood, it would not be a law! Tom

*LOGIC* does not apply it self to Laws of Man.

Here is another thing to make you go "hmmmmm."
Rohrbaugh got federal approval to build and market an "R-9." Whether the gun has sights or not was really neither here nor there to the feds.
However, when Rohrbaugh started shipping guns with slides engraved "R-9s," the feds suggested they stop since they were only licensed for an "R-9." Thus was created a small number of very collectable guns that say "R-9s" on the slide.
Don't you feel safer now? :o
