Maybe it's me or just my "old age". . . . . But I am animatedly upset with "our" new for 2018 United States Postal Service 50 cent stamp.
They have got to be kidding me with that design! Absolutely disgraceful and sinful toward me and our country. How many people have died for it!
Look at this disgrace . . . . . . . . They changed the wording from "USA FOREVER" to "USA FOREVER" !? Really!?
I read that as: Yea, USA . . . . . Not Forever!
I'm sure some liberal was behind this one and put it in motion.
We must rise up against this one. I'm sure I am not the only individual who sees it.
It comes out this coming Friday, February 9, 2018

The "Forever" refers to the stamp being purchased at today's cost, but can be used to send a standard letter forever, even after the postal rates increase. This saves the USPS from having to print 1 or 2 cent stamps when the rate goes.
Also, I believe the line in Forever as seen on their website is to VOID the stamp image so that it can't be printed onto sticker printer paper and used for free. I would bet that purchased stickers do not have the line through the Forever.
I'm going to my PO Box today, so I'll check it out in real life and post a stamp pic.

I just let my fingers do the walking and Googled it.
From the USPS website:
"Q: Why is there a line through Forever?"
"A: The stamps you receive do not have the line through the word. The United States Postal Service requires a line through the word "Forever" when the stamp is pictured. This is done to prevent counterfeit copies. The stamps you receive do not have the line through the word."

Don’t give it a second thought, Eric. It was an inelegant bureaucratic way to debut an image of the new stamp. There are other ways the image could have been displayed so as to
prevent counterfeiting.

That's what I was thinking Richard. . . . . It could have been done better and not a line through FOREVER. That got my German feathers in an uproar!

Having spent some years in Germany, I have learned that it is best to avoid getting “German feathers in an uproar.”
