Not your usual night at the gym
« on: November 07, 2017, 09:40:09 PM »
Tonight, my cousin who is a Sheriff with the Sarasota, Fl. Sheriff's Dept. got home from his shift & decided to go to the gym. When he left his house, he took his Sheriff's car instead of his personal car because his wife's car was blocking it in the driveway. His sheriff's car is a brand new Chevrolet Impala with a Corvette engine in it. It is fast! On the way to the gym, he heard a police call stating that 2 West Marine Stores had been held up with a description of the fleeing car. Just then, it passed him. He radioed it in for backup & gave chase. Within seconds, he ran them off the road. He jumped out of his car, put on his bulletproof vest, and held 5 men at bay until backup arrived. He felt a bit weird wearing gym shorts, no shirt, & a bulletproof vest. His service revolver was left at home, but he was carrying his S&W Shield 9mm as his off duty piece. All men were arrested without incident. You have to admit, it takes an officer with big ***** to capture 5 armed men...yes armed. No shots were fired. This could have gone the other way. He never made it to the gym.
Having a gun in your hand is much more effective than having the entire police department on the phone!
