Hello all:
First post, but I have been lurking and researching for a while. I have come to the conclusion that if I decide to carry a firearm, it will be have to be small, it will have to be pocket carry, and it will be an R9.
I do not currently carry, as I feel the decision requires a lot of respect and education, but I am signed up for a CCW class in the near future as well as spending time on the range with my current hand guns.
Just wondering if there are any R9s out there to be had on the used market besides Gunbroker.
Unfortunately missed out on that sweet Stealth last week:(
Thanks, and any input welcome as I also have no idea what pocket holster to try.

Eric, welcome to the group. Good luck in your quest.
-
Eric. Welcome to the Forum. Certainly wish you the best in your search of the R9. There are other places, but GunBroker has the most selection and just check it every day and sometimes couple times a day if you have the time; they pop up quick and can be gone, as quick, as you've noticed. Again, welcome.

Welcome to the Forum!
Congratulations on selecting the R9 for pocket carry.
Be patient and one will show up. Check the classifieds on the forum on a regular basis.
As far as I am concerned there is only one pocket holster manufacture to be had! Meco Pocket Holsters. Robert Locke the owner will make exactly what you need. I suggest buying some used ones and some cheap ones and design what works best for you. Robert will make your dreams become reality.

And what wolverine says! :)

Welcome to the Forum, Eric. :) There is a lot of good information to read through on the forum. Good luck in your search for the pup.
-
You have to love the R9 and Meco Holsters! ;D
-
It is a buyers market. You will find a good deal if you are patient. Good luck

They do go together and I might add, excellent!

Anyone have a PUP for sale for a fell forum member ENitro? :)
-
Corey does! 141 & R141. :)
-
Don't try to sell my set. ;D
-
I'm trying. First come, first serve. :)
-
That is the bad part. :o
-
Nothing bad about that. Just lay them away.

This is seriously the friendliest and most civil forum I have ever been on. I have noticed that about most of the gun forums. Firearms must civilize people.
I will look into the Meco. The other place I want to carry is while mountain biking, which I do a lot of, in difficult back country terrain, alone mostly. Any ideas on the best carry method with lycra:o? I guess I could do open attached to the side of my pack which I always wear. Lots of sweat involved in this activity which is partly why I want something used and a little pre-beat up.
What would work better, Stealth coating, or SS in this application?
Finally, I did get to fondle a new R9s at the local gun store yesterday (1179+tax and I almost bit.) Amazing little piece of work, and the trigger felt dreamy smooth after the Glock I am used to.

An Armed Society Is A Polite Society. ;D
It might be difficult to find a "pre-beat up" pup, most owners are pretty kind to them.
As far as finish the Stealth will show more of the wear on the slide than the stainless will.
Good luck in your search.

For bike riding/carrying I would recommend a fanny pack conceal carry system. The pack can hold many things as well as the gun and it looks natural on the trails to have one. Perfect fit. Many companies make them.

If you attach a holster to the pack please be sure that it is secure.
-
I think you carry the gun in the pack!
-
You still need a quality holster in or out of the pack. ;D
-
Depends on your choice. :D Some have them sewn in. ;D
-
That was why I used the words "Conceal Carry System" Conceal carry fanny packs have holster built into them with quick access capabilities when needed. I do not recommend using a standard fanny pack. The conceal carry Packs keep the weapon in a separate area so all your other "stuff" does not get in the way.

I had a friend that sewed a holster on his hiking back pack for his glock 27. He mounted in a way he could reach it without taking the pack off of his back to retrieve the gun. I am sure there are alot of options out there, or you can make your own concealment package. :)

I thought that's how they were made. Never have seen one.

If you google "Conceal carry fanny pack" you will see a Bazillion of them :)

Exactly. I don't see much point carrying the thing if it is in the pack. Open carry would be fine in these parts. It just needs to be very secure, and a little out of the way so I don't fall on it because I do fall, and the ride can be a bit rough at times.

Anyway, it is a pretty dynamic sport. Maybe an IWB carry would be better, just to the right and in front of the pack?

WOW! That is some scary pictures; do you get hurt much, or damage your bike? You must be very skilled at that, so the answer to both is probably, no. Continue to be safe.
-
Come on kj lets each get us one of those bikes and we can do that on the weekends. (http://i413.photobucket.com/albums/pp216/yankee2500/CHLLOL1.gif)
-
I was just thinking that same thing; instead of buying a new gun, we could each get a $2000+ bike.

If i come across 1 ill let you know.We have a local Rohrbaugh dealer that gets used ones (Farmingdales) in all the time os so he says. I have him looking for the blue CF Farmie for me.
The last Farmingdale was missing the box and CF grips.

The under 130 Farmingdale I'm looking for has to be NIB; and of course no R as that no. would be. :D
-
I'm my own boss also, when my wife lets me be. ;D
Yep! I do have that problem! ;D

I told the guy to sell it to someone else. :D
