Source for Black Button Head Screws and O-Rings
« on: March 31, 2020, 11:00:20 AM »
Good morning, I hope all are weathering the tough times we're dealing with and doing well.

I was wondering if anyone would know a current source for VZ grip black button head grip screws and o-rings?

I called VZ and they said they don't carry that size of o-rings and only sell the screws as a set included with the grips.

Thanks and stay safe,

Steve

If they are the same size as the regular grip screws, talk to Alex, the Rohrbaugh guy at Williams Gun Sights (two guys named Alex, so specify the Rohrbaugh expert).

They sell the grip screws for $5 a set, plus $15 for shipping.  They have both stainless and blued available.

Good news is if you buy more stuff, you only get stuck with one shipping charge.

Mike:

Thanks for the suggestion I'll have to check with them to see.  Unfortunately that'll have to wait; they're shutdown till 4/13 due to CV.

If Eric (ECR) does not know size I can measure some.

That would be great bamboobob.
I know the black button screws are 3-48 (to match frame) but don't know the length of the threaded portion or have a clue on the size of the o-rings.

Thanks,

Steve

Gosh, all I know of that screw at the moment is that it takes a 1/16" Allen to tighten & remove it.

I'll have to see if brother Karl remembers that size. I do have blueprints still, so I'll look through those also.

I'll get back to you guys asap.

Other original extra screws ordered from Maria @ Rohrbaugh had counter sunk heads.

Not sure but think blue locktite is good.
Soldering pencil tip to heat to remove.
Read up on loose screws on this site to confirm.

Edit.      VZ may sell screws if you but something else.

Correct. I had contacted Loctite at the time when grip screws were "a chore" for most people, even me, to loosen them up without damaging them, the grips or the frame. Their technician mentioned it was an easy fix. . . . . Loctite turns to a liquid in the item you're working on around 300 degrees. Use a soldering gun with a pointed tip installed, put it onto the Allen screw head area for a few moments (3 - 5 seconds here) and the material turns to a liquid again and you can easily remove the screw. I love that whenever we contacted any vendor about an issue, they were always very helpful with their answers. It was a great industry for Karl & I.
