It's been pretty quiet around here so I thought I'd post this.
Here is a Singer manufactured 1911 A1 that is up for sale on GB. All the experts on the Colt Forum say it is without a doubt been refinished. The price seems high but what do I know.

Here is the real deal that sold earlier this year at the Rock Island Auction. It brought in $414,000 so maybe the refinished one is a bargain.

Quiet is right MRC, thanks for the good reads on those.
I do like the early 1911's they seem to have a bit more character than those produced today.

I just copied and pasted this from the Colt Forum.
I have not seen any of the Singers sell, but this poster claims a well worn original brought $120k so the refinish did bring down the price considerably.

"Just closed at $82,025. Some might call that a bargain".
"To me it shows how much restoring a gun hurts its value. A forum member sold an all original one earlier this year for over 120k if I remember correctly. A 100 year old gun that looked its age compared to this one that looks great. That's a big difference in price. Maybe my mom was right, looks aren't everything."
